I recently bought a heated seat kit off eBay. The wiring harness for each seat includes a positive and negative wire, that's it. There's no switch illumination wire.

The backside of the switch has a blue, yellow, red and black wire. Red is positive and black is negative. Does anyone know if the blue or yellow wire powers the switch backlight illumination?

You’d think they would supply a schematic with the kit?
    No?

Easy way to check is with a 9 volt battery, black wire to negative and then touch the blue wire to positive, if it lights up you tie it to any wire that is controlled when the lights are on. Same goes for the yellow wire. Sometimes switches are wired to not only light up when the lights are on but also to light up when the switch is activated even when the lights are off.

This ^^^ many car stereo installs have a yellow or orange wire for nighttime backlighting.
It may also have multiple settings (high and low) with two indicators in the switch.

Unfortunately it did not. I did however find this while combing forums, sites, etc. The image is of a light switch and not a heated seat switch but I think the blue wire it what I'm after.

Thank you for the helpful advice. I'm going to test the blue wire on a 9V battery first. The blue seems to be the wire I'm looking for per the above image. If not, I'll test the yellow wire.

I just did my heated seat wiring yesterday. My wiring was 2 reds which got combined together to the vacant sunroof fuse, 1 black to ground and 1 yellow for lights.

A forum member ... I installed my pads this Summer under some used Clazzios i bought on eBay. When I posted what i was planning on doing the member responded to reach out if I had any questions when it came time to the wiring which I did.

Be sure to get this type inline tap if going to fuse block: ATM-LP

Yessir. Already have my wiring, add-a-fuses and wire wrap. I hope to run the above mentioned color wire tests this afternoon.

I tested the red, blue and yellow wire on a 9V.

When the red wire is connected, the switch backlight illuminates. When switched to high, the high LED illuminates and when switched to low, the low LED illuminates.

When the yellow wire is connected, the high LED is partially illuminated but no backlight. When the switched to high, the high LED and switch backlight both illuminate. When switched to low, nothing.

When the blue wire is connected, nothing illuminates at all.

Anyone have any idea what's going on? Maybe the switch does not have separate backlight illumination?

Can you include a picture of the switch, wiring harness and relay that came with your kit?

After some more research, the switch backlight is wired directly off the power source. There is no secondary option. I've decided to scrap this wiring harness and purchase the Clazzio harness based on what I'd prefer.

I really appreciate everyone's help and input.
