So I went to go pull the bulb for the fan control knob to see what i needed for replacement. Haynes book said to pull bulb straight out after turning....I broke the circuit board giving it a slight pull and a wiggle. The friggin bulb gets pushed out through the back.

I'm so pissed. Now I lost the Temp control light. I'm going to have to remove the whole unit and see what needs replaced to regain lighting.

Anyone know what to replace before I go doing surgery?

that sucks.I just changed both bulbs.I turned the bulb with a
thin screwdriver and then flipped the panel upside down and it fell out.

It really sucks...looks so easy too. I know better than to force something like that, I didn't know it was that fragile. Now a simple bulb will cost me...

I should have taken out the whole unit.

Go look in my 1st gen media album. I have a ton of pics and the bulb number. You have to dismantle the whole center console pretty much.

Yeah, I just did that a while ago to assess the damage. It's not repairable. I don't necessarily "need" the lights, but I'm not one to let things just sit unfixed...

A new unit will be 125.00 at Toyota Dallas. (online pricing and I can do will call) Not bad, but I'm not happy either...

Yeah, that sucks. This was the first thing I did on my truck. I broke the bulb off in the fixture, but didnt' break the board. I couldn't believe what a stupid design it was. Perhaps they outsourced it to the English.

There's a YouTube video on how to change the bulbs. I'd look it up if I were you.
