Tundra’s aren’t running 300+ degrees. Not even dedicated race stuff will put up with that in higher pressurized cooling systems.

The 5.7/6 speed super robust and I’ve seen plenty of them pull just fine through the mountains loaded heavy and not get hot. I’ve personally pulled plenty with one hooked to a race trailer with zero overheat problems. It will be remembered (if it isn’t already considered) to be one of the most durable powertrains ever put in a vehicle.

The Tundra is hands down a much better tow vehicle than a Tacoma….

Body armor 4x4 semi hidden winch bumper. Hooke road roof rack. Hooke road high height bed rack. Tyger nerf bars. MBRP front skid plate. TRD OR transmission skid plate stock added. TORQUE air bag suspension rear. 4:88 nitro gears. ARB rear lockers with onboard air compressor. KSP 2-4" UCA. Front Fox 2.5 with res with 3" lift. Fox 2.0 with LS adjustors. 2" AAL rear. Open country toyo 255/80/17 33” tires. Stock sport rims. Plastidipped everywhere!

Oh I believe it that they are a better tow vehicle. Thats why I want one too...So i guess the temps Im reading off the tundra forum are lemons? Its like my taco under stress is considered baseline for the tundra. So I guess my temps are not bad at all. Have you gauged your temps? And do we need to modify it? Becuase these current gens have no trans cooler stock. Just off the tundra forums.

I'll trust the engineers that build, design, and set industry standards.
I think everyone knows a 6k load is a 6k load, including the dog, ice chest, etc.
Little tractor trailer cabs that pull 80K must be nervous as heck.

I’d be looking at a 20’ 3500# trailer personally. By the time you load up the trailer and the truck to the gills it’ll be no fun to full time drive, let alone the single digit mpg, ha.

5400 loaded or unloaded? Unloaded it's way too heavy. Loaded it will do it but it's pretty miserable doing it. Your problem is you'll be over payload too easily. Should really go half ton truck for that weight. Personally from experience towing a 5500 pound loaded trailer with a Tacoma I wouldn't tow anything heavier then maybe 3500 pounds loaded with one. My Tacoma towing that 5500 point trailer never felt unsafe but wore you the hell out on long trips. Freaking no power, takes way too long to get to speed, damn thing is at 4000 rpm way too much and you better get a running start at any hills. You'll be looking at 9-11 mpg so with that little fuel tank you'll make frequent gas stops. A full size truck with a tow package will make the trip much more enjoyable in my opinion.

So I finally weighed my weight distribution setup. 2018 4WD SR5 dcsb towing loaded Winnebago micro Minnie 2108. Front axle 2680, rear axle 2700, trailer 4180. I did have my small generator in the bed as well. This seems ok to me. Anyone with more experience have any comments? Pretty close to payload max.
