Most HD fan clutches lock up at about 80% of the shaft spinning speed to allow for some slipping. I can't vouch for the Tacoma, but I used a "Fan Clutch Eliminator" on my Silverado, and I couldn't hardly get the truck up to speed after that! Sounded like a freaking fan boat in Louisiana. HUGE power loss.

If you want more noise hack your muffler out or put some exhaust cut outs in.

Maybe it just my old age, but people that drive around with excessively noisy vehicles should beaten with a rubber hose. I think pretty much everyone in the neighborhood wanted to choke the little fker that decided that straight piping his 370Z was the best sound in the world, nope not at 2AM

A few OE parts from fancy trucks

You want a clutch-less mechanical fan to replace your current setup.

Well, you want that for your purpose.

    Something like this.

Keep in mind that if you have an overheating issue your warranty on the cooling systems performance, and any resulting mishap will be voided.

Yep. As actual car people would be wondering what's wrong with your truck.

On the topic of power, in theory getting rid of the fan and installing electric what kind of power increase could you see? Would it be worth it?

Would free up some Horse Power at the cost of reliability and effectiveness.

I'm right there with ya, I bought the quietest aftermarket exhaust I could find for my Subaru specifically to NOT piss off the neighbors when I left for work at 4:30am.
