Sounds like you got a “grille guard” other than a full bumper...

I forgot who it was but a member on here has an arb bumper and hit a deer and virtually no damage was had, at least nothing some spray paint wouldn’t fix

    Ok
    I can believe that

But was he able to ho back n duplicate the accident with a bull bar to compare the damage?

    And my question was not

Is an armored bumper better that those bull bars, but what evidence exist that a bull bar MULTIPLIES damage in an accident.

I had a buddy that had a bull bar and got into a light fender bender, and bent his frame. In fact on initial look, it didn't even look like there was any damage. The bull bar was pushed back into the bumper (just barely on one side).

The problem is that it transfers the energy directly into the frame, instead of letting the bumper do it's job, and absorb the impact. The frame damage wasn't wasn't extreme, but was bent on the edge where the bull bar was mounted to it.

Not here to debate an amoured bumper vs a bull bar, just to relate some personal experience with bull bars multiplying damage.

I was hit head on in my old Taco.
Virtually no visible damage to the eye.
    Had no bull bar
    Had no armor bumper.

    Still tweaked the frame.

Is this evidence of a bull bar not multiplying damage or not, nope. Just an isolated traffic accident which shows frames get bent........

    Sometimes.

Blow the coin on a real steel bumper or forget it.
Ranch hands, brush guards, whatever you want to call them are damage multilpiers in any collision. They increase the force on the bumper like a wedge.

Please provide link to scientific study which concludes that a brush guard turns into a wedge, somehow multiplying the damage.

    Didn't think so, bro.

The guard attaches to a mounting bracket behind the bumper (which is not solid). When something hits the bumper it bends the guard which forces the mounting bracket to bend.

    Torque = Force * Length

The guard extends the length of the mounting bracket so it means less force is required to damage the bumper.

Below is a picture of what I mean:
    E18B5934-AE4C-4452-AFC7-C059503AC3EB.jpg

The bar just ended up bending the bumper. It doesn’t do jack to protect it.

Only guards mounted to the frame prevent danage in a hit.

No the bumper would not have bent that way if the guard wasn’t there. I think thats obvious.

I also think you need to look up what Voo Doo is...

Perhaps you should look up the word science

Cause you seem to have your opinion confused with actual science........

I have one of the Avid Bumper Guards too, and can vouch for their durability. I was on the highway doing 70-ish a couple of years ago when a large piece of scrap metal bounced out of a junk truck a few hundred yards ahead of me. Because of traffic I had nowhere to go and the thing (looked like about 18 inches of think angle iron) tumbled and hit my truck right in the nose. It hit the Avid bar and rang it like a bell, then fell under the truck and hit my skids a few times before exiting to the rear and smashing the shit out of the car behind me - he needed to be towed. Although my front licence plate frame didn't survive, the only other damage was a 3 inch chip in the powder coating. There was no dent or really even an abrasion on the guard. These things are made of DOM tubing and bolt directly to the frame. Any accident that would push the bar back into the body work would surely be total loss with or without it. It's not meant to be a plate bumper, and I got it primarily as a place to mount lights, but it paid for itself that day.
