Does anyone make heavy duty covers for the led bed lights?

Both of mine have cracked from hauling things…

    Thanks!IMG_5672.jpg

Not that I'm aware of. Replacement lights are cheap on Amazon if you don't want oem.

I haven’t seen any heavy duty lenses offered anywhere, but to be fair I haven’t been looking super hard. If it were me, I’d buy replacements and then figure out some sort of diy grille to protect them.
You could also hit up one of the TW metal wizards and see if they could design and fab up some kind of grille for you.
The user Kwikvette is super friendly and easy to work with. I bought a set of internal bed stiffeners from him and then had him design a molle panel for the back of the center console. I didn’t tag him, but if you’re interested in going that route you could start a private conversation with him or tag him on your own

imo, this is probably the best idea. i'd build something like a molle panel that extended off the bed stiffeners, and then ties into the accessory rail above and in front of the light...

This sounds way more protective and less invasive than what I was imagining: A small rectangular grill, raised about half an inch, just screwed into the bedside around the headlight lens

Or some plexiglass (more impact resistant) in the same shape as you suggest. Transparent, less light-restrictive.

    Wow!

I didn't think about that when I installed mine.

Of course, I don't use my 5ft bed like most...

Mine are still intact but I'm curious if someone would fabricate a protective shield.

I put 1/4 (maybe 3/8 or 1/2 in) in plexiglass on my sump-well to replace the black-unviewable cover ... for when the pump breaks and threatens to overflow. Even the 1/2 in still has good visibility while keeping lighter objects from falling in. No guarantee about the "transparency", but I would sacrifice it if I broke my OEMs every week and put lights under the cargo rails for more light.

As someone who has done some not so nice things with stuff like that, get the real Lexan stuff. Even 1/8" is far more impact resistant than typical 1/4" plexiglass.

But I would personally make it out of metal instead, as the Lexan will get scratched/scuffed and need to be replaced somewhat often

Any gaps in the grate may let parts of the load through. Clear Lexan sheet would have no holes. But I see your point about metal instead of plastic, even if there are gaps. OP may have to experiment.

Toyota has them... all you do is call and ask them if you want OEM which cost more. Unless you want aftermarket, then Amazon has them for about $20 a pair.

But I don't think the covers aren't heavy duty... If I were you, strap the stuff together away from the lights and secure them on the spot so they will not move around and damage the lights.

If breaks again, get another pair for $20... since it is plug n play.

I have Molle panels on both sides of the bed. It covers the bed light and at first I was disappointed but once they come on it still lights up the bed. It protects the light and could be what you are looking for.

    Thanks @Ejctt

Here's one without Molly panels for comparison.

Not bad. I will wait at night so I will take a picture of my lights in my shell. I have a factory light and aftermarket strips. I will upload 2 photos for comparison. 1 factory light photo and 1 strips photo.

    @TacoTime55

Please excuse the mess in the shell. I work house construction/remodel.

    Factory Light:

    factorylightsm.jpg

The factory light can be adjusted to aim at the bed or the tailgate which you plan to cook something on it.

    Light strips:

    lightstripssm.jpg
    More brighter than the factory.

Both lights can be turned on or off when you open or close the shell glass door. They can be turned off manually if you plan to leave the door open.
