I've about worn through my Falken Wildpeak SL-loads and the tires I want to upgrade to are an E-load. I dont do any offroad driving or towing, so the "need" for an E-load is non-existent. From the listed weights, there is a 9-10 lb difference. For those of you using a heavier/larger tire size with stock front suspension, have you had any issues with premature front end wear over the long term, since the larger mass and wider footprint add greater rolling resistance and weight on the parts?

I know the powertrain performance will decrease, but was there a drastic performance decrease for you on the butt-dyno?

get C rated if you dont wheel or have a heavy rig. You can get just as "meaty" of a tire and your wallet and mpgs will thank you. Most popular tires (dependent on size) come in E and C rated (much lighter).

The truck will def feel slower and butt dyno will be less as well.

I'm with @LiquidArrogance. Why would you want to run E if you didn't have to? What tire you looking at that doesn't come in a lower load rating?

Still didn’t answer why. If your looking for a bigger more offroad get a C rated version. How much higher if a tire? If it’s not much bigger it won’t be as dramatic. You could go 265/75/16 C rated and get the look you want assuming that’s why.

If they came in a C load for the size I want, I would.

Unfortunately they only come in E load. Theyre the MT Baja Boss in 265/70R17.

I get it fellas, why why why. I fully well know it sounds dumb as hell.... but thats not my question.

I dont WANT to upgrade to an E. The tires I want are only offered in an E. Make more sense? I have 3 more tire options, but the tires I really want just so happen to only come in an E-load.

Got it. If you are stuck on that specific tire you will feel a difference in MPG and Butt Dyno. Maybe not as much as larger tires but it will be noticeable. Update to ONLY offered in an E-Rate and the tire would have prob reduced the comments 99%.

I am considering looking at D-Rated to bridge the gap but similar to you the tires at the time I wanted were only E-Rated ( currently running KM3).

Thanks, yeah I figured. Mainly interested in if anyone has noticed/had any premature front end wear.

Your front end will be fine. Your over thinking it. Buy the tires.

I would avoid E if you don't have to and look at other offerings. That being said its harder to find c-range tires in bigger than stock 17" wheels.

Not because of suspension wear but because of the ride quality and power/mpg loss like others have said if the tire is heavier than its c/d range counterparts.

yah in terms of wear they will likely be fine. A M/T tire is going to wear funky anyway if all you do it drive on the street. Also may not last as long

You will be perfectly fine. I ran e loads on my stock suspension and had no issues at all. I noticed no power loss whatsoever. At the most you might get 1-1.5 mpg hit and the ride will be a bit harsher. If you don’t mind those things then go for it.

FWIW I still got better or advertised MPGs with e load tires. Have c loads now and they are great, can still air down off-road and the ride is much nicer on the street.

I would avoid heavy MT tires if you are street driving only. MTs are not great when raining and just in general street performance.

No buts about it. People run e loads on factory suspension all the time. The only tacoma owner that would obsess over such a topic is a tacoma owner thats a member here.

    Once again.

    Your suspension will be fine.

I really wanted coopers STT pros, but they only come in E load, too bad because it’s an awesome tire.

I would only run E load if all I did was rock crawl at 15 psi.

Im talking front end suspension parts/ball joints/wheel bearings, etc....

Thanks for the feedback! I'm not worried about a minor MPG loss (Thanks Bo Jiden), mainly just front end components wearing out prematurely over the long run.
