Those have GREAT potential. If not for this project, surely for other projects.

Square tube also available ($40-50 each)

    ---------------EDIT---------------
Unable to find specs on these, if anyone does please post um. But if made for roll cages, they are likely strong enough.

The rack you show is what most hang glider pilots build. I have owned/built them. But i have a 1' diameter PVC tube permanently mounted far to one side. When I did this with a rack mounted as in that photo it caused too much wobble and too much wear and tear on the dacron. So i need to locate supports to the outside (i used the medical analogy "lateral not medial") of the body, just behind the lights and in front of the wheel. This has many advantages. 2 front receiver hitches just medial to the lights (as in the photo @ClevSix posted) is most common for that type of rack. It is my fall back design and can be mounted to the bottom of the winch plate of the bumper i linked to. But i plan to own this truck for several decades so I want to do it right .

If those black tubes are the sleeves for that rack it IS sturdy. It is easier to make such a rack if you do not need an off-road approach angle. Which i am trying to maximize.

    So many things to balance...

I can not get deflection or strength ratings for different forces on those interlocking cage joints. but they are cool. Not as quick as a pin but way sleeker.

Thanks for the help everyone... this is getting good

    -----EDIT----
Changed "people" to 'hang glider pilots'.
added "When i did this with a rak mounted as in that photo it cause too much wobble and too much wear and tear on the dacron" "and can be mounted to the bottom of the winch plate of the bumper i linked to" "as in the photo @ClevSix posted"
