    IMPORTANT EDIT FOR FUTURE REFERENCE!!!

The image is incorrect - the green wire belongs on the bottom of the switch, and the black ground wire on the top!

I am at my wit's end here after spending hours trying to troubleshoot my lighting issue.

I have a set of Hella 500ff lights and am using the wiring harness and switch supplied by Hella.

I decided to tap the switch into the TAIL fuse under the dash to have control over the lights when the driving lights are on. I used a fuse tap to do this with a 10A fuse.

Here is an album of photographs with my wiring - it is a bit of a mess as nothing is perfectly secured yet.

I have tested everything I can think of with a multimeter and everything seems to be grounded. The top (green) wire on the switch gets power when I flip driving lights on. It does not get power when driving lights are off. The yellow wire has a reading of 0.00 no matter what position the switch is in. The switch is supposed to illuminate, but it does not. I have tested the switch itself and it does not seem faulty.

There is no noise from the relay when I flip the switch. I am not sure what to troubleshoot next. I've tried flipping the wires on the switch as well, but no luck. I haven't tried every configuration though.

Should the yellow wire get power when the switch is in the on position?

Any and all help appreciated, and you might be able to tell by my post I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out what's wrong.

    Thank you!

Naturally after spending 3 hours on this, 5 minutes after I post it I check the switch again. I needed to switch the black and green wires on the switch, which I know I already tried, but I did it again and now them lights are working.

Apologies for the waste of a thread... maybe it will help someone else.

but for future reference and a future audience, can you fix the picture? it looks like its slapped over your explanation of issue.
don't delete any of it, leave it for others to see and learn from it :)
