After a good snow storm last week both of my Hella lights behind the grill stopped working. The switch in the cab still lights up and it looks as if the fuses are still good. I fiddled with the wires and there doesnt seem to be any lost connections. Can the relay go bad? Would that cause the problem? The switch is still getting power to turn on the little switch light, but no power is going to the lights. Other ideas?

On a related topic. I have been very disappointed with the hella 500 lights. They shoot a good beam but it doesnt help light up driving, or improve visibility. Would a led bar do a better job of this?

Bulbs probably went out. I've changed my 500s bulbs once in 5years(burnt out once)
They did help with night driving but with the hids I got now they don't really do anything.
I doubt a led bar would be legal to use for on the street night driving. I'd suggest new bulbs and aim them differently before buying a led bar. Get the replacement Hella 55w bulbs I got extras and the part number if you need it.

You think both lights went out together? I will take a look at them tomm and check it out. Part number for bulbs would be great. Is there a way to make them a bit more flood as opposed to spot?

Yea my state only allows 4 lights on at a time. Never sure if they would count each led bulb as a light or each assembly as a light....you figure if they counted each bulb that would make the new audis and ford raptor a ticket machine. :)

From what I've read/heard from others is they don't like cold temperature, after j replaced mine I never had a problem again (I think the original bulbs suck)and maybe they did go out together . I replaced mine with Hella h83135051. Also the bulb isn't what makes it spot or flood it's the actual light housing. I think four lights including your headlights, and the light output of a bar is way too much for driving around town lol.
