Can't have PSN-related issues if you only play games on PC

 

I never had that pop up and nobody I know did either

 

That's where the issues come from us PSN is forcing it on PC players

 

I'm on a PS5, so I have no dog in the fight, but lots of people are saying they had it. Maybe it was a bug that it didn't pop up, but the devs say it was always intended to be linked, and that message did pop up for at least some of the players. I don't understand the issue for 90% of players, because 90% are in global areas that PSN is available. It's not hard to create a PSN account, link it to steam, and then never touch it again.

 

That's not accurate either they have shown the countries that it can't be played in and a good amount of players are in those areas... The problem is they are doing it now and not at launch... With the dev coming out and apologizing and also trying to fight Sony again on this so people can play the games says they messed up big time

 

A lot of players, yes. A significant percentage of players globally, No. Arrowhead has already stated the vast majority of their players are in North America, Europe, and Australia. None of those areas will be impacted.

I imagine it was always part of the deal, because Arrowhead stated as much and it was only delayed due to technical difficulties. I think Sony is being a bit dumb about it, as it is egg on their face. They look like asses for pushing it so hard.

 

Even then thou the reason it has such a negative impact is because of those few that do love this game and now can't.. thats a massive fu to the PC community overseas.. yes for those in the areas it will not effect but it's still shit and most pc players I know just said meh I got my time in I'm done or have friends in those regions that are not allowed and said f this game.

It may have been part of the deal but the deal was to be optional all along but Sony wants to be greedy just like any other major company so this happened and will most likely be a downfall of a pretty fun game.. now I hope arrowhead will follow up with what they have said about fighting against Sony again on this... Since the last post I saw was they felt they had let the community down which they infact did.

That is false information. Arrowhead directly refutes the part in bold. It was ALWAYS going to be mandatory and skipping it was ALWAYS going to be temporary.

 

Everything I've seen on it was it was suppose to be optional for the PC side because of region lock... If that was the case it should never have been offered in regions that can't play it after this update.. steam has already locked it so those places can't buy it now and are doing returns now because of this.

Again I never had the option to skip it.. I never saw anything about it back then.

 

Arrowhead is owning the mistake of poor notification. As for selling... they, as developers, aren't in control of that. That would be on the distributor, which is Sony.




According to this, it's listed as a requirement on steam and always was? IDK, I don't even have a PC. Some of the comments also state that you can just select a region that has PSN and create an account, so it won't actually stop anyone from playing if they want to. If that is the case, this whole thing is more of the gaming "journalist" nothing burger outrage stuff that they are always peddling.

I've seen the post yes.. buddy of mine fell in love with the game so he shares a lot of it haha. Even if they do not handle the game sales they should have done better... Fyi I'm not fully blaming the devs yes they messed up but they seem to be trying in the background it's mainly Sony being well Sony..

I've also seen the according to this or that post it was suppose to be mandatory but it also seems they just turned it off on the PC side so people wouldn't care and just play the game to get sales it feels like..(case and point none of my friends and me had that popup including others in other countries)
The comments about making a PSN account ina different region to my knowledge isn't possible because of how PlayStation does security since people with VPN have to disable it before playing. Friend of mine has one active and has to turn it off for helldivers.

 

Could have to do with the tos? Where if you get caught in a different region you get banned from the game for lying kinda thing but unsure that's above my pay grade lol

 

Overall this is how I see it based on what can be found with my limited interest in the fiasco.

1. The biggest fault is on Sony for allowing sales to regions it wouldn't be supported in.
2. The failure of AH was in not making the pop up permanently show up.

That's it. Those are the two problems. Devs. could only control the second portion, so they have to own that. As far as I can tell, the CEO at least admits that fault to be his.

 

Agreed I do hope they do something for these people that can no longer play. Well minus steam giving refunds for those in the region lock.

I don't know what the devs can do. I'm sure Steam will issue refunds at Sony's expense. Whether or not Sony will back off the mandatory sign up is the big question. I doubt it. They're so big they don't really care if they make people angry.

 

Idk what they can do either but people can hope ya? Steam from what I've seen has already started issuing refunds to those affected. Tbh it's an easy fix on Sony but they will want to keep the PSN thing for banning people from the game most likely..

 

Not sure if folks have seen the latest on the PSN saga, looks like Sony is walking things back now...

 

Well that is refreshing in today's age of doubling down on shitty business decisions.

 

Hmmmm, apparently they are saying they'll not require the link, but they haven't reversed the region block. That's still got some, like Thor of Pirate Software, still holding out on celebrating.
