Not sure why I have never joined this forum except my old Taco is 21 yrs young with 325290 miles on her and still running great! Got the truck from my dad who brought her in late 2000 with 3500 miles from some one who wanted a bigger truck. I have done a ton of preventative Mx since I use to drive 50k miles a year at 400 mile shots every couple of weeks and I didn't want her to strand me. One time in 13 years I had a lower BJ break on me at 77MPH. That was interesting but I paid a shop to replace the lower BJ for me and I picker her up the next week on my way back through.
Not driving those miles any more so I have done O2 sensors, 4 new injectors, other side lower BJ and both uppers, new brake disc and calipers & lines, new Kenwood with sound deading material in the doors and 4 new Rockford speakers.
Took apart the entire throttle body and IAC and cleaned to like new. Recently changed out rear diff oil and 5sp manual tranny oil with engine oil & filter. New EGR valve and modulator for a code once. Both coil packs are new & wires. New radiator last year with a crack on plastic neck and radiator got all new hoses. All Vac lines have been replaced. 4 new shocks and I hope to get another 100k on her!
This truck has pulled a 2500lb trailer for 400 miles a couple of times and just keeps on digging asphalt! Not sure what's next for her but a clutch will be in order in the next 2/3 years id say. I'm sure I'll be asking for some advice down the road! I want a new 2021 Tacoma but I'll never get rid of this old Gen 1!!
