    Hello,
I am contemplating my first Taco purchase. It is a 2009 TRD 2WD Double LB V6 AT. At least that is how the dealership describes it. 67K miles and 3 owners. Not normally a red flag for me but raised an eyebrow. Before I move forward, I want to ask about the known frame rust issues which have been mentioned. They sent me a video of the complete underneath and it looks clean. What has been yall's experience? Not too concerned about the radio issues. Easily fixable for me. I guess my other concern is the low mileage for a 15 year old Taco. 3 owners recorded. Seems curious or maybe overthinking it. Does the truck age well if it sits alot? Anything else about the 2009s I should look at?
    Thanks

Where the truck has lived matters.

And if it's been in salt land, it needs a better look than a dealer video. Whacking with a hammer, probing with a bar and a borescope look in the frame are all worthwhile efforts.

My 13 only has 48k. In 4 years I'll be around the mileage of that truck.

If it's a rust-belt truck the frame condition would be more important than the mileage. If the frame passes the hammer and visual test, then worry about mileage.

Would you put Florida in that category? See pic of the rust found. Rest of the frame looked clean.

What I see is nothing to worry about. Check the frame near the cats. The part of the frame, it's boxed, closest to the cats, and where the AC moisture drips onto the frame on the passenger side. Hit it with a hammer. Look for holes. Use a flashlight.

Not usually. Exceptions are E coasters where beach driving is allowed, flood vehicles from our last hurricanes and folks who don't use care boat launching, hauling pool chemicals, etc.

And do you know if it was always Fl registered or if it was a transplant?

What you show above looks fine. But it's always good to look harder in person.

3 owners all in Florida. They sent me a few pics of the whole frame. One area looks concerning but maybe I’m just worrying too much about the frame recall of 09.

That rust is a little concerning, but you have to inspect it yourself and really test forrust.

Just clean off as much rust as you can get to and do a Fluid Film treatment on it!

welcome to TW. I personally would stay away from dealer prices. buy one from an individual owner you'll pay a lot less. Just do all your research on the truck online before you buy it.

Those pics are a bit more concerning.

I live in a coastal county and my truck still has the stickers on the frame.

I'd wager that one has been driven a few places it shouldn't have been.......

Just curious... being from Florida with low milage/3 owners could it have flood damage history? My 2007 is also low milage... the frame looks alot different. My paint is still black semi glossy compared to that flat discolored oxidised look. Maybe nothing to worry about. The frame looks to be in pretty good shape... just needs some rust inhibitor applied.
