My name is Travis, I am an automotive mechanic for a local family owned business. I am ASE certified with about 15 years of experience with a wrench and electronics. I am recently the proud owner of my dream Toyota, a 2002 taco standard cab 4x4. I've wanted this generation since they hit the market but couldn't afford it and then had kids so it was no longer practical but I have recently acquired an SUV and was given permission to select a small truck for my personal needs and found my dream truck so here I am. I'm hoping to learn as much as possible as I'm a firm believer in you never stop learning. I have been a mechanic for many years but because the Toyota trucks are just so reliable they rarely come through the shop so I'm fairly new to them. It's amazing, at any given moment there are literally 30-40 vehicles waiting for repair and I have worked for my current employer for over two years now and I can count the number of Toyota trucks I've had to actually repair on two hands. Compared to Chevy, Ford, Mazda, or any of the other manufacturers its absolutely fascinating to me. Toyota is built like no other and I learned that for myself before being told there was no truck that could compare. My current truck has 299,150 miles and I'm getting ready to replace the second timing chain and tensioner. Everything is original except the water pump, and basic service items! Even the tensioners are original. The frame and frame components were replaced Jan 2015 under the recall. It drives like new, no vibrations, no ticks or rattles, and transmission is still silky smooth. No one can believe just how well it runs, drives and looks with the mileage it has. Anyway, I hope to learn and possibly help others so if anyone has any questions or needs any advice don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks for having me!
