I just joined this forum because I am wanting to possibly trade my '14 F250 4wd SuperDuty for a Tacoma 4wd. I and my family grew up with Toyotas. Have a couple of friends pretty high up in the Toyota world around the gulf states.
Anyways, I do not need the type of truck I have now. I want a smaller more fun truck. I ruled out Jeeps, so I figure a Tacoma 4wd may be what I want, so here I am. Looking forward to learning a lot here and hopefully it will lead me to a great vehicle that I will enjoy for many years.

Welcome to TW. I've had SuperDuty Strokers. They will pull more but, damn mine was maintenance pig...both routine & not.

If you're ok with the size of a Tacoma, I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with it.

    My last Taco.

    My current DD.

    My last PowerStroke.

I really have no need for my SuperDuty. I'm back out of the oil biz and working 10 miles down the road from my home. Just wanting a smaller vehicle, would like to add a little lift, rims, tires, etc. And make it a fun driver. Located in New Braunfels, TX.

Tacoma's are awesome. One word of caution though...I came from a 2010 F150 FX4 crew cab to my 2015 tacoma double cab. I love my tacoma but it's a big adjustment on size. I have a 4 month old and thought the tacoma would be plenty. It's honestly not ideal. I have to slide the passenger seat up pretty far to fit the car seat behind it. I'm 6'1" so my seat stays all the way back and I feel like I really need an extra inch of leg room. I usually just slide my shoe off and I'm good. Just wanted you to know before hand. Happy hunting!!

Thank you for the insight. I'm the same size. I really need to get down to the dealership and test drive one.
I do have one concern from my little research and that is the automatic transmission on the 2016's always seem to be looking for the proper gear.
I am in no hurry. Heck, I may even wait a year or two to see what happens.
Just getting the new vehicle itch right now. Lol.
    I appreciate yalls replies.

Off topic side note that I really had never thought of...

Just recently read a deal about car seats being placed behind either the driver and/or passenger front seats. Apparently during a rear ended type of collision it's been determined that a number of young kids have been anywhere from injured to killed by seat backs breaking and the occupant and seat of the vehicle rear ended crushing the child. From what I read, there's a push for regulatory agencies to push for higher g loading of the seats and recommendations for placing the car seat in the rear center position. I guess these results came to light as a result of overall safer vehicles...kinda like knee injuries weren't a big deal until front airbags stop/slowed more serious injuries to the upper body.

I have heard this as well, I tried placing the seat in the middle but then I have to slide both seats up to an uncomfortable level to make it fit. So now if it's just me and my child riding, I place her on the passenger rear side and lay the front seat down flat. That seems to work really well.

You're welcome OP. You are defiantly correct about the transmission on the 2016s. We just recently had the international auto show here in greenville sc and toyota was there with free test drives. I took the 2016 tacoma for a drive and the two complaints I had were the gear hunting issue and less torque than the 2015. Other than that I loved the truck. You will have a little less hesd room if you get the moon roof option too.
