    Hi all,

Finally done with school and want to fulfill a dream I've had for a long time, build a sleeping platform in the back of a truck and spend my weekends exploring the Sierra back-country. First things first, I have to buy a truck! Dead set on a first gen Tacoma. I'm looking for a 4x4/5 speed, 4 cylinder ideal but will settle for V6. Ex cab, long bed required. My financial institution will only finance 2003 or newer with 125,000 miles or less which makes shopping difficult. Currently living in Davis, moving to Sacramento in a few months. Any tips or advice?

Sounds like you are limited to 2003 and 2004. I'm not aware of any mechanical differences between the two model years. You just have to decide on what color and features.

Be aware that those models only came with ADD type front axles (no manual hubs available after model year 2000). From what I've read, ABS brakes was also standard.
