Hello- Finally purchased my first truck , 2020 SW DC TRD OR 4x4. It will be my new hunting buddy. I honestly don't know a lot about my truck, or trucks in general so I will being trying to absorb as much as I can. Seems like this is the site to do it. I would appreciate any advice on preventative maintenance things I should do immediately.

Honestly my hobbies are two extremes, either I'm backpacking for a weekend, and scouting for deer, or sitting on the computer all evening playing games. I love small town diner breakfast, and my wife makes the best Aussie burger.

    Nice to meet everyone

If you live in an area where they salt the roads in winter, it is possible. Takes a few years though.

Most folks have found being proactive by coating the frame helps a great deal. Many threads on here about it.

Don't let this keep you from enjoying the new truck, though. Just preventative maintenance.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
Clay and wax the painted finish, including the wheels.

If you live where road salt is used, or drive on the beach, Fluid Film the frame inside and out before winter, pressure wash in spring and reapply next fall.

Check air pressures on all 5 tires. Odds are they are overinflated from the dealer.

Many vehicles need an alignment right off the truck, especially if you are finicky about your steering and tire wear. Consider it, especially if you notice anything that bothers you in the steering/return/wheel set. Use a specialty shop, not a big box or dealer (unless you know the alignment tech and trust them)

Get a bed mat if it didn't come with one.

    Read the owners manual.

    Welcome.

Appreciate the kind words. I'm in the desert right now, but I used to live in PA, so i know how salt can really ruin a truck. So far i've read through all the tips and tricks post, and have gone through my owners manual and watched a lot of youtube. It sent me down a few rabbit holes and increased my anxiety a bit, but overall was very helpful. I'll definitely get the mat, it has been recommended to me about 10 times already. My tires are currently at around 37 PSI according to the tacoma dash sensor, while the door sticker recommends 30 PSI for 265/70/R16. So i am guessing I should deflate those a bit to reduce tire wear? I actually have a clay bar i have never used before, so I guess I will youtube how to use it. Thanks for the help
