Hello, my name is Bill I am in Surprise, AZ. First Toyota.
Well, just got a 99 Tacoma TRD Prerunner. Actually, I got it for my boys. One is driving the other will be soon. After reading many threads, I ordered some parts from Camelback Toyota (couldn't find any discount codes). Funny thing I asked my local dealer for a better deal on parts. They said, nope that is cost. How is it that I ordered the ball joints for 119 each from Camelback. And they quoted me 170. So, I ordered stuff from the dealer and on Amazon.

Anyway, my list of repairs which have parts ordered:

    carrier bearing
    brakes front rotors and pads
    rear shoes
    axle bearings and seals
    shocks
    ball joints

Things to come that need ordered:
    valve cover gaskets
    trans flush
    timing belt/water pump

Any advice on this truck is appreciated.

Oh I also found some matching wheels, but they are 16 inch and not the 15. Must have been on a 4 runner.

Thanks guys. I'm realizing that although the truck is not trashed it has not had much "maintenance"
Plan on doing valve cover gaskets and flush the transmission also

My Boys and I have been doing some repairs and maintenance, we have been busy.

So far things that have been done:
Rear Axle seals and bearings. BTW Napa sells Koyo with two new seal races. Used Toyota seals. Made my own axle bearing tool to press out axles.
    Rear brake shoes Raybestos
Front Pads and Rotors- Akebono pads/ Raybestos Rotors-ching chong china, found out when they arrived.
    Front Ball Joints-From Camelback Toyota
    Kyb shocks all four corners
Center Carrier Bearing found Spicer online.
New Radiator Spectra on Amazon for $79
Flushed Trans with four gallons of Valvoline MaxLife
Had a major oil leak "somewhere." I torqued the valve cover bolts I could reach. The oil leak has stopped from what I can tell. Cleaned it all up with many cans for engine degreaser and power washer.
Added about 1/2 can of R134.
Got some used 16 inch Rims Painted them Graphite and Swapped around some tires Goodyear Wrangler SRA 265/75/16.
    Greased all u joints.

You know kids he wants a Subwoofer, I want to clone the JL Stealthbox.
