Hello everyone, so I have a very interesting vehicle to show everyone here, so I drive a right hand drive 05’ Toyota Hilux Surf SSR-X 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION in Canada but the engine is a 2.7L 2TR-FE motor, they offer those engines in Japan as well as the 3.0L diesel. If your wondering how I can import one to Canada, so the import laws in Canada a car like this has to be 15 years old or older in order to legally be imported to Canada.

My main reason for being on this forum is to gather information about this motor and what I can with it mods wise, especially adding cruise control

I havent seen a 4th gen surf yet. Really cool.

I think you're better off with the 2.7, parts are more available and it's more reliable. I was around JDM imports when the 2nd gens were coming in and overheating lol.

Whats the bar in the rear hatch area for?

that’s the main reason why I bought this vehicle is mainly engine parts is easy to get, I had a overheating issue from the plastic coolant bypass pipe it was leaking so I replaced it with a metal one and added a engine block heater, the bar in the rear I’m not sure, I noticed a lot of small sand between the door jams, probably for a surf board.

A little of this and a little of that.
    Welcome to TW.

Very unique vehicle, with RH drive and the 2.7L four cylinder. I think the 3.0L diesel engine would be desirable for me.

    I have a 2005 4Runner with the 4.7L V8. It’s been a great vehicle.

I’ve always loved the Hilux Surfs, so much cooler than our 4Runners.
