Just purchased a 2001 supercharged Xtracab with 138,000 miles (now 143,000). Lost my old 1986 4Runner to an unfortunate accident a few months ago (pics below)... But excited to hop back into a trusty yota.

I very much dislike purchasing cars up here in the Northeast (originally from CO/TX) but this one seemed to be very well taken care with stacks of maintenance records. New frame as of 2009 with the recall. Kind of skeptical about the supercharger reliability, nose cone is still pretty solid, but a shop says the belt might need to be replaced. I'll use the search feature to find out the best place to grab one. The new truck below...

(Small rust spot in the door jam, think water gets trapped there after a rain event. Gonna dremel it down to bare metal, wipe down with isopropyl alcohol, then q-tip in matching paint code. Bottom of inside doors are rusty also, they tell me door skins are the best way to go(?))

(Rear backing plates are pretty rusty... gonna need some new ones in the near future)

There's a 97 cruiser for sale nearby, which has me second guessing the Taco. Toting around girlfriend and doggo is kind of cramped, but the guy selling the cruiser is kind of sketchy. If I keep it the Taco, plans are Fox 2.0 shocks all the way around, new front/rear bumper, getting rid of plastic bedliner and getting a spray on. Any reliability mod suggestions are welcome! However I can't go too crazy as I dropped some crazy money fixing up the runner and need some time to recover financially.

Nice frame, no rust. Get busy and power wash then coat with Fluid Film!

That's the plan! Winter is coming! I heard NH Oil Undercoating is the way to go... so my local shop says.

Not heard of NH Oil undercoating. Fluid Film is what I use as do many others around here on TW. I hate the way they put salt on the roads around here in Ohio.

Yeah, I think NH Oil is a northeast thing, but has some pretty sweet reviews. I wish they had a salt free lane for Tacos that can handle snowy conditions, gonna have to drop by my local DPW and see what they can do about that.

Salt free lanes for Tacos, that is a sweet idea. I find myself driving on the snow whenever I can instead of the salt slop.

That salt slop though, all I can think about is where's the closest car wash stop. My future plan is to have an indoor heated car wash in my garage ha.
