I've 4wheeled all over Shasta, Trinity, Butte and Humboldt/coastal counties for all of my life... Being a life long Redding-ite... Spent a few years in Chico/RedBluff area.
I started out in a Jeep CJ-5,then, Toyota Land Cruiser and then the "Jimmy years" I had 3, tore them apart, pushing them too hard.
Now after several years keeping a pos ford ranger running, I am thrilled to finally have a nice 1st gen taco... Oh what fun I plan to have with this thing!
I must say thank you for the warm welcome & thanks to several contributers, who helped me with the first steps.... Led dome lights, tires & carrier bearing, arg! Brakes next

Welcome, what part of Redding? I was on the West end near Shasta HS. How is Whiskeytown looking since the fires, is the water clear or is it all muddy now? Was thinking to drive through there this summer.

I've been all over Redding, started in Lewiston & Lake Head... Chico for college... Redding most of the rest...
Fires devastated most of back side of Whiskey Town (4wd access closed) I hate to say... Idk how far along repairs will be by summertime, but of course the lake is beautiful! Lots of other places to camp and stay...

Well, got my battery cables cleaned up & back to OEM as I could get. This truck is a little grungy under the hood, can't wait to get it spotless!

Looks like the guys I got it from left me plenty to do- brakes, carrier bearing, head gasket I'm afraid - smelled oil burning, but she LOOKS great & is running well, just a little chunk from that trashed bearing. So nice compared to what I was driving!

    With nice weather, brakes tomorrow!

I followed info on here for ordering correct bearing, thanks to the several more knowledgeable ones on different threads on this!

Also, Shasta Dam OHV park wide open for all levels o' 4wheelin' (aka Chappie/Shasta ohv rec area)
