Picking up my new 2016 TRD Sport today and saying goodbye to my Gen 2 TRD Offroad. It was and still is a great truck but the call of Gen 3 is too irristable. Going two wheel drive this time as I now live on a 14 mile long by 2 mile wide island (2.5 miles offshore) where the maximum elevation is 24 feet above sealevel. I think the 4x2 model may just be able to handle it! Glad to find this forum and I will be lurking!

Welcome to TW. With upgraded (all-terrain or better) tires, you'll surprise yourself how well our trucks do in 2WD.
But then you'll get cocky and get stuck so have a buddy! ha Enjoy it.

Thanks for all of the welcomes!! Here is an update on my purchase today. Went in for a 2016 TRD Sport 4x2. After I got my trade in value deceided to pop for a new soon to be shipped 2016 TRD Offroad 4x4 with lots of extras that I probably don't need but want. I traded my old 2011 TRD Offroad 4x4 plus my wifes 2014 Prious Type V. They both covered the cost of the new Tacoma!!! Yes I am still married to her and I have no open obvious wounds. She still has her old SUV which shw is happy to drive. The Prious was her work car which is not needed since she retired. I feel like I won the lottery.

Hey, New guy here just joined up yesterday. Just saying hello. I had a 2011 Silver TRD OR bought new and traded yesterday for a 2016 Silver TRD OR, deja vu all over again. Went into the Dealership going to buy a White TRD Sport 4x2 but could not shake the 4x4 monkey on my back. For me it's just not a Taco if it doesn't have a transfer case. Anyway I'm really enjoying this Forum.
