I have been lurking in the shadows with my manual transmission ‘07 prerunner that I bought with 10k original miles back in 2018. I put lots of miles on that truck and it never failed me. Even without 4wd I would put that thing through it, and surprisingly I never got myself into anything I couldn’t get out of.

Well, now that I’ve got a family it was time to trade in the ol single cab for something with a bit more room, or at least that’s what I told the old lady. I knew I needed a 4dr, 4wd, and I’ve always preferred the manual transmission, lots more fun that way. Anyways, I went to our local stealership here in southern nm and what do you know? THEY DID NOT HAVE A SINGLE MANUAL TRANSMISSION TACO ON THE LOT, and it was not promising hearing how long I could have to wait for a MT PRO/OR. I knew right away I would be leaving the dealership that night without a truck, after what seemed like ages my sales guy comes out of the back and tells me they have ONE MT that came in off the truck, and that it hasn’t been logged in their books yet, so that it’d be a few days until they had it ready, but I could take a look at it.

Wheels still wrapped in plastic, plastic over all the seats and on the trim, and this thing was gorgeous. I am in the woods 75% of the year and the Army Green color sold me. We did all the paperwork that evening and I drove it off the lot the next day.

I am a wildland firefighter in the summers, where we are stationed is about an hour of Forest service road from any sort of civilization. During the off season I do landscaping/tree work, and I do a bit of hunting and mild off-roading, so am going to be customizing it as it works for me. One thing I want to make sure is clear is this is a work truck. I use this thing for hauling wood, hauling trash, hauling landscape rock, whatever the job of the day is.

Hope to hear from some of you guys, I’m still trying to figure out how to organize a build thread for my over cab rack, this is my first welding project, and first real project for my truck.
