    I’ve been wanting a Tacoma for years, and I’ve finally got one!

    2001 SR5 4x4

    178,000 miles.

    She was really dirty when I got her a few days ago, so I’ve spent most of my free time cleaning her up. There’s something about seeing it shine after requiring hours of washing and waxing and detailing that does something deep in your soul.

    This truck will be my daily driver. So for now, my focus is getting everything up to speed mechanically and replacing/repairing broken, worn, and/or rusty parts a little bit at a time. I’d love some suggestions for what you guys like to take care of when getting a well used vehicle ready for daily use. Also, it would be great if you could point me in the direction of some good daily driver builds, if there are any.

    I will be using it to go camping but for now I think that means just carrying my gear. There may be a truck bed tent in the near future. But long term, I really like the idea of a RTT trailer.

    At first I didn’t like the wheels. But as I’ve cleaned the truck up, they’ve grown on me a bit... so for now I will keep them on. Any suggestions on a tire that runs well on the road but is still fairly capable when it needs to be?

    She has a lot of rust on the frame. All the way through in some spots. So I will be tackling that at some point, too. Any suggestions are welcome.

    I’ve read around for a few days and this seems like a great community. I look forward to being a part of it.
