    Hello Forum,

I installed the EZ 990 Helper Spring Kit #981 7 days ago. I don't have pics of the install but you can download the PDF off of the Hellwig site. It increased the rear height by 1.5''s on (evenly on both sides). I bought the kit from SD springs off of ebay ($101.00 with shipping). I was concerned about the truck having a rough ride but it turned out to be firm & smooth. I spent 3 days purposely driving on rough roads, looking for speed bumps, & driving on dirt roads with potholes in them. No rattle!

When you install the leaf spring on the drivers side (you have to do them one at a time) you are supposed to install a shorter u-bolt (comes with the kit) on the portion of the spring near the fuel tank. It installs side ways to avoid possible contact between the u-bolt plate & the fuel tank. I did not install it as they recommended. I installed all four u-bolts the same way (same way as the factory axle u-bolts) & trimmed the u-bolt plate near the fuel tank with a wheel grinder. I also have Timbrens installed & I had 7 people (1320lbs) in the bed & the u-bolt does not get near the tank since the Timbrens don't let the truck sag low. As for tension, I tightened all 4 u-bolts until they were snugged up to the factory leaf spring clamps. The install is done with the vehicle lifted by its chassis so that the axle can hang.

Special thanks to AlerAero & yellowgt5 for their input which helped me decide to make the purchase. I hope this helps anyone who is on the fence about these. :)

These are the same ones I put on my truck about a year and a half ago. They do their job well. The ride did get firmer, but not rough. No sagging anymore with heavier loads and the truck handles so much better both with AND without weight in the back.
