anyone else install these? I put the rear u bolt (furthest one from the axle) behind the leaf spring shackle and I think after torquing then down that it's contacting the shackle. it's not on the overload spring. will this be an issue? I feel like if I installed it closer to the axle, it wouldn't fit. if anyone has pics of how they installed them on their truck, and the placement - it'd be really helpful.

    THX!

Sorry, no pictures. I had the EZ-550s installed on the truck for a while but took them off when one of them started making contact with the shock while off road. As I recall, the u-bolt strap was in contact with the spring clamp on the bottom of the spring as you describe. The Hellwig spring was just barely touching the clamp on the top when torqued down.

I'm not sure if I'm reading you correctly, but only the ubolts closest to the axles should be tightened all the way.

You would adjust the ubolts farthest from the axles depending on the load and/or stiffness you desire.

I think I got a good picture of my issue... the helper won't fit up against the axle and in front of this clamp. I hope this makes sense - if you guys can let me know if i'll have any issues, id be grateful.

Thanks to both of you for your replies.

TacoGlenn, do you have yours installed in front of the axle? or a set for each side?

TacoGlenn appears to have a 5 lug Tacoma which has a different spring setup that the Prerunner or 4X4 Tacomas.

I have The Helwig spring mounted behind the axle and they fit just like yours. you cannot clamp down all the way in the rear due to the spring clip. That is how it is supposed to be.

Yes, I have a set for each side, only had pics of the fronts.
Yes, as Jimmyh said, I have a 5-lug.

Do these lift the rear at all and do's it stiffen the ride at all?

It does not lift the rear, at least not noticeably. However, I do notice a reduction in what they call "axle wrap" or just general vibrations when I'm braking. It does stiffen the rear up. My main concern is that they touch the leaf spring shackle closest to the rear of the truck.

Oh ok . Thanks for the reply . I am thinking of getting a shell and I will have to do something with my stock 2+1 leafs.

I bought them for that exact reason, the 2+1 leafs are awful. I was able to move them about a half inch forward (toward the axle) and it's no longer contacting the shackle. For the price, it's not a bad option. After getting them installed correctly, I can hardly shake the bed by bouncing up and down on the bumper.
