    Why ???

What are you trying to accomplish...

    Lift?

    Towing?

    Increased load capacity?

Most of these things you have posted are just bandaids masking the real issue.

Why do your stock springs and over loads not do the job?

What job are you asking them to perform?

What first Gen truck? What options?

I'd go for an Anti wrap bar with a shackle at the frame end ~ similar to what the Jeepers use.
