I started to have some issues last weekend with my 2012 Toyota Tacoma. I was parked on a slight decline with the parking brake set, when I went to put my truck in gear it wouldn't shift out of park, I overrode the shift lock and was on my way. It wasn't until the first turn where I realized I had no turn indicators, further inspection showed that I didn't have A/C or a backup cam either. I checked codes when I finally made it home and got P0705-Transmission Range Sensor A Circuit (PRNDL Input). I swapped the IG1 fuse and it repeatedly blew as soon as the truck was started. I did some research and all the articles I read leaned towards a Shift Lock Solenoid or Transmission Range Position Sensor issue. I took it to a shop and apparently there is no issue with the Transmissions Range Position Sensor but that the Shift Lock Solenoid was faulty. The mechanic then elected to unplug the Shift Lock Solenoid and the IG1 fuse did not blow, turn indicators and backup cam came back, but still no A/C. I drove the truck all day Friday and had no issues, but when I started it up yesterday the IG1 fuse blew and I am $500 in and back a square one...

    Thoughts?

    Thanks for reading!

Sounds like you have a short somewhere. Check the wires going to trans and engine bay fuse block. Also a possibility of a bad brake light switch.

No issue with the brake lights, would that eliminate the possibility of a bad brake light switch?

    UPDATE

I swapped out the IG1 fuse last night and drove into work this morning, Transmission and Traction Control Off lights were both on. Truck appeared to be running fine the only problem was that not matter what setting was selected the heat coming out of the vents was on the hottest setting. It was so hot I had to drive with the windows down and being from Vancouver I got soaked!

I thought I lost my wallet last night so I was looking around and I think I found the problem (see attached photo)

I have reviewed the wiring harness diagrams, but can't narrow it down, it is under the dash in the passenger foot well.IMG_6739.jpg

I have the same box on my single cab. My factory service manual doesn't ever refer to it, and I really don't know what it is.

Currently have no shift lock or Air conditioning, so it must be tied into IGN1.

I was able to splice everything back together and everything seemed to be working on my drive in to work. I wish I had found that before I spent $500 in diagnostic testing that got me no where...
