I disconnected the negative battery terminal to do the 400W anytime mod, and now when reconnecting the alarm goes off (doors closed), and the truck won't start. When performing the mod, I followed directions in the thread below (cut/capped violet w/ stripe, and grounded the violet). I even tried removing the inverter plug to see if that's doing anything, and still won't start.
I've tried locking/unlocking with the fob while the Toyota alarm button is depressed, and out. My immobilizer light (I think, middle of clock area, vehicle with key in it) is flashing like it always does when the vehicle is not started. I'm really hoping I didn't screw that up somehow, but surely this doesn't happen when replacing the battery...
    Any thoughts are welcome!

which light is that? Both the Toyota red push button, and the car-with-key light go off when the key is turned to on

No crank at all. All lights come on, doesn't even try to turn over.

disconnect the battery? or 400W mod? the inverter mod is reversible, but from what I did, it should not be preventing the truck from starting. I think it has something to do with the alarm system, but I've done what I know how to do to reset it, but no luck.

Sorry, I don't understand the question. The only lights I'm referring to are factory lights from Toyota (alarm push-button light, and car-with-key light). The only thing I did was disconnect the battery, 400W anytime mod, reconnect the battery and this is when the alarm went off. Now the truck won't start although all security lights are off.

Is that all the "upgraded Toyota security package" is?? Another ridiculous dealer money maker...

No, the lights stay on. The clock actually flashes when I try to start, guessing allowing extra current to the starter...idk. Anyway, another interesting note, all my radio presets were kept. There's some kind of memory somewhere that may be preventing me from starting.

Called the dealership, and they want me to tow it in...no thanks

    bump

any other thoughts. Leave battery disconnected overnight? Would that erase any memory of the alarm being set off? I put the inverter wiring back to stock to make sure that's not preventing engine start, it's not...still can't start the truck. I tried jumping it even though I measured 12.9V across my battery, no luck.

This is really freakin annoying. Anyone with a 2013 (or 2012), don't disconnect your battery, and reconnect it with any doors open. That's my guess as to what happened, based on other peoples threads about alarms.

I'm pretty much stranded as of now. Really don't want to pay the dealer $200 for this

when the alarm goes off, did you try to unlock your truck with the remote?

Yes, this is how I got the alarm to turn off. After turning off the alarm, I attempted arming and disarming the alarm multiple times, while pressing the little red button in and out. Tried all different configurations with no luck. I even had the alarm and horn start to go off when the key was in "on", and I pushed the red alarm button. Can't specifically reproduce this one, seemed random. Any idea if leaving the battery disconnected overnight could help? I may try this anyway just to see how I am in the morning...

Yup, I made sure the terminals were tight.

This is what I'm afraid of. I don't know how to counter the alarm/immobilizer starter disable. Dealership says I have to bring it to them.

Maybe the 400w mod blew one of your ignition fuses? And the alarm you're talking about is the panic button alarm on the key fob

I think you're out of luck. Here's some info on the security system, if this is what you have: http://www.toyota.com/accessories/featured/vehicle-intrusion-protection.html

    One of the features:
"Hot-Wire & Starter Protection — if someone tampers with the ignition switch, the alarm is sounded and the ignition is disabled. In fact, once the alarm sounds, the starter motor is also disabled."

The mod shouldn't touch any ignition fuses, and after the mod. I could still turn on the inverter just fine. I'll check the fuses anyway. Here's a photo of the red button; it's not located on the key fob.

This is what I was thinking, but can't figure out how to reset this protection feature. Only at the dealership? Or......

I'll give this a try. This sounds like it could be the invincibility cheat code I am looking for.

Oh ok, is that a factory alarm? Or dealer installed, or aftermarket.
