Yeah that is what I was saying I think lol. Still the dealership is going to to blame the 400w mod weather that is what it is or not. I have worked with a lot of dealerships in the past and it seems that most, and I am saying most because I have worked with several that are actually pretty good at what they do and are very knowledgeable about their product, still seems that most will look for the easy way out and then charge you to fix a problem that isn't really there. Still I think we are on the same page lol. Long story short undo the mod and go from there and please let me know what's up when you do I am interested to see what the solution is.

Oh...I didn't know there was an aftermarket alarm installed on it. Yeah it probably is not the mod in that case. I would undo it still before taking it up to the dealer to have it troubleshot. Does the dealer have a lifetime warranty on the install? Most places that install alarms won't charge you anything to troubleshoot something that they installed.

It's the Toyota alarm system that gets installed before hitting the dealership lot. So it's not really a factory alarm, but dealer "aftermarket" system. I'll post a pic of the fob when I get back home, but it's whichever one comes from Toyota.

I'm sure you already did this but I had the exact same button on a previous vehicle if I had an issue with my alarm it was a bypass. All I had to do was hold the button down and turn the key while holding down the red button. My car would start. I had to have the red button depressed while turning the key have you done this?

The generic info you found looks to be the same instructions I have for my "Remote Keyless Entry Upgrade Security System", but just in a different print out. Here's the key fob I have.
    [IMG][IMG]

Actually I hadn't tried that, but it didn't work :(

I did it pretty fast, within a second. However, when you say push it three times, does that mean cycle the alarm 3 times (6 presses), or just press the button three times?

I think I found the fuse for the security system, either that or just for the shock sensor. Any idea if pulling this, and replacing will help? or just hurt me more?

This explains what the button is for. Basically, enables/disables features of the alarm system.

It was a bypass for the starter kill. Like if I lost my key fob and still needed to start my car. I would hold the red button down push in the clutch and turn the key and my car would start. Not sure if its the same button but I had to have it pressed in while turning the key.

I agree with Brad and the immobilizer was activated when it lost power when the battery was disconnected. I wonder if it can only be reactivated by the dealer after you prove that you own the truck.

Reading my operation manual, six presses after turning the key to run then off, will enable or disable the chirps when the alarm is activated/deactivated. I can try this again; I pulled the horn fuse, so I won't piss off the neighbors :)

I've got an auto, so are you referring to the step parking brake, or where the parking brake pull would be on a manual transmission? I traced the wires from the little red button back into the gadgets near the steering column, but it's hard to be sure where those wires are going. Should there be some kind of reset button on it, or just a multi-pin plug going in to it? Any idea if this module has an internal battery or memory, or can I unplug this harness, reattach, and hopefully start the truck!

I can't decide if I want to keep trying new things when I get home from work tomorrow, or just get it towed in...

Found the module. It's just a black box with a harness plug going in to it. If I unplug this, anyone know if it'll cause me more issues than I've already got, or potentially reset the immobilizer? Don't think it should be that easy...but y'all may know more.

Not sure, but what do you have to lose at this point?

Well that's true; so I tried it. Unplugged, nothing really happened. Plug it back in, the truck acted the same as when I reconnected the battery. Alarm went off, had to disarm it, and still no starting.

As a side note: If this (or something similar with the alarm) ever happens to anyone else, make sure to pull the horn fuse! It will save you from shitting your pants each time the alarm is triggered...
