Short and simple. I need more clearance....
The 2.7l sr5 extended cab doesn’t come with a tow package so, to start, I added an oem bumper hitch and replaced the stock assembly bumper. Roughly added 62 lbs to the rear end. I added an SSO front plate with a winch. Added weight to the front is roughly 170 lbs.
overall I want a 3 inch leveled lift all around. I attempted to keep all the add on as lightweight as I could for this purpose. Now trying to figure out a solid lift setup is the challenge. Any more skilled than I feel free to chime in

What size tire are you attempting to clear?

I have a 2.7 5 speed ac with 32" tires, 120lbs of bumper and winch up front, and a 2" ome lift. Weight and tire makes a noticeable difference, as well as rotation mass. I went down 10lbs each wheel switching to scs rims and it made a noticeable difference

Moral of the story, I wouldn't go over 32" on the 2.7 dude, in which case you don't technically need a lift, but you can keep it at 2" and not cause the problems that a 3+" will.

What exactly are the problems a 3+inch lift will cause? I’m not looking to upgrade tire size with the 2.7 more than the 265/70 r17 with lighter wheels. Just trying to get off the ground a bit more

I am not an expert but from my reading on the forums and watching many taco youtubers, anything over 3" you should probably consider a tom woods driveline conversion, the Tacoma's drive shaft dose not handle step angles well, i.e. lifting the truck above 3". There are not many options over 3" for this and other reasons. There are a few 6" options out there, I would consider this kit although Rough Country has had a bad rep around the Tacoma community the Vertex Coil overs and their Vertex rear shocks are very good at a very reasonable price point. There are a few other options out there too but the Jeep community is raving over the Vertex line. RC Lift

any suspension lift over 3 inches would require aftermarket upper control arms and you'll have to do a diff drop in the rear too

You would be fine with a 2" with those tires, might consider getting rims with some offset though, as your tire starts to get very close to that upper control arm.
What you need to worry about is driveline and cv axel angle. I personally suggest a 2 because it's going to be easier on your truck long term than a 3, however guys with long term 3" lifts might have some input as well.

If you are not looking to go big on wheels, then a larger lift may not look good. with the 265's a 2 inch lift will look fine.
