Doubful. I was dreading an evap change when I redid my system but it's been working fine. Only thing I did was flush the evaporator. It's not perfect by far given the construction of it, but I wanted to get all the old oil and dye out.

If you take the glove box out, you can see the black box referenced in JimmyH's post with the cutaway.

Thanks - that is encouraging that you haven't had issues after sticking with the old one.
I'll take a look and see if it's feasible to try one of those cleaning sprays.

Worse thing that can happen is it doesn't work, right?

My 05 never had a cabin filter in it either.

Hey guys (and gals), I’m about to attempt to replace my expansion valve but it’s not an ordinary bolt. I’m wondering what size/kind of Torx tool I need to remove it??

Torx Socket E10 and then the two mounting bolts are Torx T25.

Don't forget the filter mounted inside the refrigerant line.

Oh, for you guys doing this make sure you replace the seals on both sides of the expansion valve with OEM. Beware that Toyota used a different part number for one of the seals on the engine side of the valve than the evaporator side so plan accordingly that this little surprise will not ruin your day. The seals are these:

    Engine Side of Valve
    - Upper 90210-A0001
    - Lower 90210-A0002

    Evaporator Side of Valve

    - Upper 90210-A0004
    - Lower 90210-A0002
