Hey everyone, I was wondering if i could get any help or advice on my truck. I have a 2014 DCLB Tacoma. Last July I put a 3in leveling kit on it and everything was fine. In October I threw on some bigger tires 285/75/17 AT Nitto Grapplers at discount tires. A couple days later I began to sometimes hear a rub/grinding noise whenever I turn slowly going on an incline. I checked it for possible rubbing but there didn't seem to be any evidence of it so a couple days later I took my truck to discount tires and asked them They said they couldn't find any possible way for it to rub. the noise happens pretty sporadically, and its kind of hard to recreate sometimes. Anyways, they said there doesn't seem to be anything wrong and since it didn't happen that often I wasn't too worried.

    however..

A couple months ago the noise started becoming more frequent and louder with the noise lasting about 3-4 seconds sometimes. It also makes the noise whenever I am on a flat surface sometimes and also going in reverse. Still hard to recreate though. I took my car to a mechanic this time and he lifted it up and inspected everything underneath it. He said everything looked great and said its probably control arms not being perfectly parallel after the leveling kit was installed and that it would be okay to drive.. and the noise wont hurt at all? He didn't charge me anything and seemed really nice and genuine.

Its a lot different from the typical noises I hear when I youtube car sounds. It sounds like the tire is grinding on a sheet of plastic.. maybe closer to like a grumble? Anyways I was just seeing if anyone out there has heard of this. Anything helps!

Usual contact points with larger tires:
Front flaps - Solution: Remove or you might be able to use low profile flaps like Rokblokz (see the link in my sig)
Mini flaps in front of the front tire (different from the front flaps) - Solution: Remove
Cab mount - Known issue with 285s, solution: Cab mount chop.

Put some masking tape all over the cab mount and any other likely area, and drive until you hear the grinding. See if the tape has been rubbed off.

2.5 inch lift with 285/70R17. I had rubbing in the front from the get go. Had to remove the front mud flaps and trim the wheel well liner at the front by the bumper.

I trimmed the liner by cutting it by fog lights and pulling toward the fog lights with a zip tie. After 9000 miles I tried to sneak the mudflaps on, no go it still rubbed.
