Hey all, I’m in my ‘18 OR, middle of nowhere northern Michigan, 500 miles from home. Was on a muddy road so I successfully put it in 4L, even tried MTS mud & sand. Went fine. I wanted to move it 4L back to 4H, and into 2WD as I was about to enter a paved road again. It before I could exit MTS it made a terrible high-gear whirring noise with no drive. I came to an (already slow) stop. No drive from D whatsoever, so I put it in P, turned it off and on again, then it found itself apparently in 4H, yet with the 4WD indicator blinking nonstop. This has continued no matter what I do, P, R, N, D, off, on, any combo. Just stuck in blinky 4H! 9 more days of vacation driving Help!!!

Only thing I can think of is put it in N, back into 4L, then D and see if you can move. once you do that put it back into N, and switch to 4h and try moving.

Did you stop, put it in N and then switch from 4LO to 4HI or try to do it on the move?

It just stays in 4H while blinking, no matter if I select 4L or 2WD, neutral to D to anything, even shut off and on. Just 4H while blinking indefinitely.

Make sure you turned off CC and MTS?

When you switch from 4LO to 4HI were you stopped? Did the 4LO light turn off? Try putting the switch in 4HI with the truck off, start the engine and drive forward and backwards while turning the wheel.

Yes, all are off, in fact trying to even go back into one says “go to 4L”, but my dash seems unaware that it’s actually stuck in 4H.

Try going in reverse while making a turn.

So I turned it off with knob in 4H, when turned on again it at least stopped blinking like it now knows it’s in 4H. I then try to properly move it into 2WD and it just blinks and stays in 4H.

I can get it into 4L, but then coming back to 4H while stopped in N I get that terrible gear buzz noise. Same thing if I shut it off/on again. I can shut it off in 4H, then when back on I try 2WD but it yet again just blinks and stays in 4H.

What if you disconnect the battery and let it sit for 5-10? Maybe the electronic mechanism will reset

After you get it to 4H have you switched to 2WD and drove it for a distance to see if it will change?

Try going back and forth from D to R with foot on the brake, a few times, then see if it goes to 2wd

Drove several miles, high speed to stop and go, stays in 4H the whole time.

Could be a wet actuator. When driving through the mud was there standing water?

Negative. Actuator is actually clean. I’ve tried jabbing at it, can get it to pivot without any tools.

Warranty void because offroad truck is not actually meant for offroad.
