HELP ASAP!!!!!

    i need help with one of my multiple 2.7l.... i was replacing the valve cover gasket and looked down into the engine and saw a black piece of plastic on the passenger side of the timing chain, it looked outta place so i pulled it out and it came out really easy. not sure where it goes and would like some help to find out if its important and if i need to put it back or if anyone else has come across this at all? HEEEEELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    im tried posting pics of this mystery piece but the site wont let me

    That is a pic of your timing chain guide. You need to find where it came loose from. I believe that is the top guide. Can you take pictures of the top of the engine, at the camshaft gear where the timing chain is located?

    thats exactly what it was...thanks guys!! and yes it was the top guide.
    any idea what the torque spec on the valve cover bolts are?

    pretty low actually. I think it is in the inch-pound range. I usually just snug them up pretty tight and leave it at that.
