had the 4 wheeler in the back of my truck yesterdan and going over a hump while braking made the 4 wheeler come forward and tap the back glass. the passenger back glass broke but the rest of the back window is okay. i was just quoted from an local auto glass replacement that itll cost me about 500-600 to replace the glass. he said the whole thing has to be replaced and cant replace the part thats broken. is this true ?

Find it from a salvage yard. Probably can't order it separate.

That doesnt sound right to me. I mean there are 3 pieces back there. Why would you have to replace all 3?? If anything, call the dealership and see what they have to say.

Yeah give them a call but I wouldnt get it fixed by the dealership cause they will rape you. Dont worry, your not the only one that has done this. Luckily I ride dirt bikes so the front fender doesnt pass the front wheel so I am good.

Thats a high price. I would call Safelight Auto Glass. The repaired the windshield in my Dodge Charger for aroud 225.00 and mine has the built in Antenna. No reason why you have to replace the whole rear window. They just pop out.

We had one the passenger side panel break in a ranger with the sliding glass rear window.

Had to replace the whole unit at >$600. Just perspective and qualifying your quotes. What an SOB, right?

Safelite is horribly expensive, at least in my experience. They wanted something like 370 bucks to replace the windshield in a 2010 Taco, I got it done with speedy glass for 170.

I guess it all depends on where you live and all.
Prices are different, check your local junkyard.

That's funny. The same exact thing happened to me a few years back. I forgot exactly how much I paid, but I had a local place replace it for well under $200. I thought it was kinda odd that the passanger window broke and not the middle one.

If you haven't thought of it already, and I'll say it for everyone's benefit, next time put some wood blocking across the front of the bed before you load the quad. Just enough to keep it from ever coming that far forward, whether when loading, or from it shifting like in your case.

Good luck getting the window fixed.

Windshields are cheap because they break all the time. But any window that doesn't commonly break is going to cost you. :( Check with your insurance as well, OP.

If you haven't already done so, I'd suggest adding D-rings to your box bolts. That way you can strap it down tight at multiple angles so it can't move independently from the truck.
