Hey guys, so I just got a 2014 Tacoma DCSB and have been looking in Craigslist for a hard tri-fold cover. I came across a post of one for sale that's 4 hours away from me but he's willing to meet up around 1.5 hour away from me now since he has things to do up near me.

BakFlip FiberMax is the name of it which is same brand that makes the BakFlip G2 (what I was originally looking for).

It retails for $830 brand new but he's selling for $400 but he said "I'll let you look at it in person and go from there" when asking if that's the lowest he can take. So I assume he's willing to go down some if he says that.

I've attached the pictures he sent me. Should I go for it or should I shell out the extra cash for a brand new G2 for $720 brand new.

If I go with it, how much should I ask for it if he's willing to go down some? Can I "wax" the panels to make it more shiny? I'm OCD so that spot where the sticker use to be may bug me, any way around it?

    Notes:
    1) It's out of warranty. Over 2 years old.
    2) He says it is not faded.
    3) The dark spot is where he had removed the BakFlip sticker off of the cover.
    4) He claims it's in very good condition and that all hardware for installation is included including the drain tubes etc.IMG_2943.jpgIMG_2940.jpg IMG_2941.jpg IMG_2942.jpg

Personally I think that looks like a decent find, I have the g2 and its beat to hell from the few hail storms weve had in the recent years. I have been lookin at the fiber max as I think it would stand the test of time compared to the aluminum topped ones. even if it was faded who cares. rattle can that sucker and roll on down the road.... just my 2 pennies

Appreciate the response man! I think I'm going to do it. I've been looking at BakFlips for forever now and it's either this or a Rugged Liner hard tri-fold cover and I don't see much about Rugged Liner online as much as BakFlip. Does it look faded to you? Maybe it's just dirty. I wish he hadn't removed the stick.

It might be a little faded but like I said just tape it off and a rattle can the sucker, give it a little newness. Personally I don't think you can beat the price or a little fadedness. Hell we just got hit with hail today...

FWIW I got a used Extang a couple weeks ago and waxed it, its a bit hard to wax due to the texture but it made it look almost new.

I bet Meguiars Ultimate liquid wax would work great on it. Would not stain it for sure.

Can you tell me what wax did you use and the process? I got it! Love it! It is a little oxidase though.
