While I cannot give you advice on the PRO to get more power, I can tell you that you would not need to make such a big jump to a 2500 or an F250 for 5000 lbs. An F-150 Eco would take care of that boat with ease or any half-ton for that matter.

Not sure what the problem is here. The Pro can tow up to 6400lbs.

what is the issue you are facing with towing the boat? Not enough power or something else?

How much larger diameter are your tires over stock?

I would think that will surely cut down on your towing capacity...

I am going to go out on a limb and say those KO2's you had to go run out and put on to look cool either before or barely after leaving the lot are part of the problem with how heavy they are and taller (they only multiply the lack of towing prowess). In reality a couple bolt ons and a tune should help make a better torque range (along with getting a lighter tire) and bring you back closer to stock. The truck can handle what you are towing, it just won't tow like a truck with twice the power, that isn't a problem though. Besides, coming from a Honda you should be used to the lack of power (had to throw that shot in there...).

Not sure why people choose looks over performance or don't properly comprehend what they do and the impact it will have on something else.

That is almost a 3.5% reduction in torque right there not even accounting for the weight.

I think it was said that a half pound on a tire (rotating mass) is like 50lb in the bed (static load)?

Yeah that's only about an inch taller...But without much torque that extra inch surely doesn't help when towing or stopping...

I honestly don't know to what extent it hurts your towing, but it will hurt it a little I'm sure.

I wouldn't have bought a taco if towing was a priority.

4.88 gears seems most appropriate. The A/T gearing is very very tall. Or try the OVTune first. That will help you make the best of the power you have.

That pro has plenty of power- we used to have to get out and push our S10 to help it pull the 24-foot V8 Bayliner stinkpot up the launch ramp! ! :p

should've bought a full size if thats the case lol.

Although the capacity might be 6000 or so, you're close to that limit and I can definitely see that causing some drag.
any half ton would do fine.

But yes you should've considered this before you bought your over priced off road lol.
If you only tow this boat occasionally though maybe just live with it.

Or spend some more money and trade your pro in for a full size. But really these trucks are not for towing...

F150 with 3.5 ecoboost and 3.55 gears and you won't even know your towing anything.

    Your 4 options:

    Live with it

    Re-gear

    Get a bigger truck

    Get a smaller boat
