I'm looking for any thoughts on black leather seats. I've ordered a 2010 Super White TRD Off-Road DC from the fleet sales manager, and I've opted to go with dealer-recommended Classic Soft Trim to install leather.

My current vehicle is all gray inside, and I'm sick of it. I really wanted the black-sand beige combination available in the PreRunners, but I wanted 4wd more than the interior. So I'm now considering black leather (maybe with a dark gray shade of stitching). I thought it would be a good contrast to the grayness of the TRD OR.

I'm planning on a legal shade of window tint (probably 20% since I've got trouble seeing out 15% at night) for all the windows and an "eyebrow" tint for the windshield. Hopefully this will help.

Anyone think this is a wrong move? Is the heat going to kill me and my seats? Any other comments?

I think it would look great. Heat would suck though. My mom's m35x has black leather and its like 130 degrees when you get in!

Does the M35 have window tint?

My 05 G35 coupe had black leather... and it never bothered me one bit. Same with the cream colored leather in my coworker's charger. Just keep the windows slightly cracked if it's out in the summer heat, but you shouldn't get as bad as AZ summers. Also, my G had reflective window tint (illegal but never caught, was on it when I bought it. Charger has normal 20% legal dark)

Also... the PreRunner and 4x4 packages have the same interior options... ...

No. But it still would get in through the front window. I think the benefits outweigh the.....whats the opposite of benefits???

Kyouto--I thought the same about the PreRunner and TRD Off-Road packages, but looking at the brochure and also dealing with the fleet sales manager, showed me it wasn't possible...at least for a non-special order truck...unfortunately!

That will be super nice! I've got 2-tone dark grey custom leather in my 06 and I just keep the windows cracked and don't have any issues. If you have some vent visors and a windshield blocker for when it's parked during the day, that helps a ton too! Also, keep your leather conditioned. Out there in the dry heat, it's important to remember that leather is porous. If conditioned properly 3-4 times a year (maybe more in that climate), it will last longer.
Good luck! Hope to see it soon!

jd--i think you're thinking of "disadvantages." I'm thinking that I'll be okay with black, and it'll help me get over my disappointment with the no-sand beige option.

I'll be sure to post pictures when I get the truck. I should know more about arrival this Friday or next Monday.

Mmm... there's diffrences between the sr5 prerunner/4x4 and the TRD's. I have an 08 TRD Off-Road PreRunner, same package as the TRD OR 4x4... So if you didn't want the locker you could probably get the 4x4 with the trim...

Yeah, that was the issue..I wanted the locker, so I couldn't get the trim.

Thanks for all your input. I got an e-mail from the fleet sales manager today that my 2010 Tacoma is scheduled to arrive in Houston on 9/26/09. 5-7 days to process and arrive here, then leather upholstery. Hopefully, if all goes on schedule, I'll have the vehicle the 2nd week of October.

I've decided to go with the black--possibly with a gray contrast stitch, depending on cost.

    Lots baby!
I had this installed in my 08 X-Runner.

This is a Roadwire kit. The center inserts are perforated. The stitching is exposed red.

Hot in a Houston Summer. Window vents help. You need to put leather conditioner on about every 3 months.

I like them. I also did the console top, shift boot and arm rests.

Thanks, Coupe. Helps to see this. I thought about red in the contrast stitch, but if I go with contrast, it'll probably be a gray.
