HELP!!! brakes hard as a rock

    Ok guys i need help here my 02 tacoma stops just fine until i have an emergency stop then they are so hard to push in also i was hearing a hissing sound from the brake booster so i replaced the check valve and the noise whent away but still hard pedal.... does anyone know if that gasket between the master and the power booster is a air tight seal could it have gone bad??? New brake booster is 900$$$$ trying all other options first any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

    5100's all around, 2.75 inch lift, polyurethane body mounts, gibson exhaust, variation of the deckplate mod, intake resonators removed 285-75-16 goodyear AT
    Booster is $213 at RockAuto. First do you have the extension for the rear brake bias valve in place that helped my braking.

    used to have - 99 2.4L I4 5 lug & 04 prerunner v6
    check to make sure the booster is getting vacuum, if it is then its the booster is bad

    Yea i put that extention bracket on a week afrer the rear lift i had to lern the hard way i hope more people know to put that on..... thank you for you input about rockauto and yes i just started to read about how to test the booster im thinking its time for replacement at 175 miles.... i was just hoping to get away with a cheap easy fix

    Ok update did a power boster test found it to be hissing just got all new parts in today new power booster and master cylinder also thinking about ordering stainless steel brake lines but ill put what i have in first and update if that helps anyone......

    Well i installed the new brake booster and master cylinder and now i have brakes again!!!

    Yea ive never had one fail the way this did... everything worked untill you had to slam on the brakes then hard as a rock.. i fugered if im changing the brake booster i should do the master at the same time and im glad i did this thing stops on a dime now

    another thing you could check out is adjusting your rear drums! your brakes work by engaging pressure to front and rear. but first the rear have to engage before the extra pressure pushes the fronts. if they haven't been adjusted for some time, they need to move an extra millimeter before making contact and engaging the fronts. that means about a quarter to half an inch of extra pedal travel before fully engaging the brakes. try pulling the ebrake. it should click about 3 times before the brakes start to engage. that's about 3/4 inch. if you can pull the brakes out a few inches. you should check that out.

    Yea i adjusted and bleed my brakes but it was the brake power booster kinda wierd to fail on a tacoma....
