A few years back I fired a manager of mine who later came back and kidnapped my brother and robbed us. He blamed his life falling apart because I fired him and he wanted
    vengeance.
let me give you a little history. This gut was from Tennessee where all of his family lived. I had him at my house with my family, wife and kids along with his life for Thanksgiving because we didn't want them to spend the holiday alone. We never get persona; with our employees but felt it was the right thing to do. towards the end of his job he became very insubordinate and wasn't performing so I let him go. Come to find out later he was drinking a lot and was an alcoholic. He also had a history of abuse. was put in jail for domestic violence. I think but previous employers had problems with him too. I let him go in December I think. I heard he was OK with it because he went back to Tennessee where his daughter had a son and he was able to become a part of his life and his daughters. Later I get a phone call from his employer in tennessee asking if I knew where he was. I found this odd and told him I had no idea. He said he hadn't shown up for work in 2 weeks and supposedly had problems with his family and fled.
Well about a week later he was spotted scoping out our restaurant setting his trap. Later that night when my brother was leaving work he was pushed back inside by a AK47 and the old manager. He was dressed all in black. Let me tell you he was in the military as a demolition expert. He pushed my brother into the office and told him to give him all of our money. he did. My brother was trying to make sense of all this and was trying to talk this irraticle man. All he would do is yell at my brother and kept telling him that I ruined his life and that he basically wanted payback. Then he immediately zip tied my brothers hands behind his back and strapped explosives on my brothers arms and told him if he tried to get out that the explosives would detonate enough to blow his arms off. He then kept trying to get my brother to call me to lure me there so he could work me over badly. My brother refused to give me up and told him throughout this 2-3 hour period that he can do whatever he wants with him because he was not going to let him hurt me or anyone in his family. Then he tried to get my brother to get my parents over there and if he didn't he was going to go to their houses and get them. my brother said no. He wanted my parents there because he knew he would have more leverage in getting me to the restaurant. All this time he wanted me bad and kept threatening my brother that he was going to break his kneecaps if he didn't comply. My brother still refused. After a couple of hours went by he put my brother in my brothers truck and made him tell him where he lived. They arrived to my brother's house with all of our money and then went to plan B because my brother was confusing him with all of the talk of how he is screwing up. My brother really got into his head. Then the guy told my brother that he was going to hurt us where it would hurt the most and told my brother that he wanted him to sign the restaurant over to him. That didn't work out and my brother could see that he was getting more flustered. After a while my brother told him that if it was money he wanted then he could help him. He told him that if me or my father came in the next morning to open and saw all of the money missing and my brother missing then we would call the cops and he would be caught. My brother proposed that if he would take all of the money back then he would go to the bank the next morning with him and give him$100,000 cash and he could go free as long as he promised to never hurt his family. Ok he said and in my brother's truck he went leaving my brother behind. My brother really had him trusting him. My brother then broke fro the chair that he was tied up to ran to the neighbors house and told them to call the cops. Well the crook arrived to the restaurant and saw several cops waiting for him. he bolted and the cops chased him down HWY61 in a high speed chase. Well they got him and he jumped out of the truck with a gun in his hand telling the cops to shoot him. They arrested him and off to County he went for the next 1.5 years to await his prison sentence. Here's the thing. the police found a note on his person and in his hotel room. it was a reminder of what he had to do in case he forgot because he was hopped up on pills and alcohol. It said to kill me, my wife who was 7 months pregnant(he knew she was), my 2 year old daughter, my brother, Father, Mother and kidnap my father-in-law for money because he is wealthy.
The burglar alarm company called me at home late that night to tell me the alarm was not set. Typically I would tell them that I would go back down to set it but that night I was deathly ill. I told them to forget about it. If I was feeling well I would have gotten out of bed and walked into all of that. Either he or me would have been dead that night.
this really effected me and my family bad. None of us could function or sleep. We all became very frightened of our lives because we didn't know if anyone in his family was going to finish the job. We all started carrying guns, got security systems in our houses and the whole 9 yards. We all suffered from nightmares for a couple of years.
His family and lawyers have since been trying to get my brother to talk with them but he wouldn't./ Time has passed and my brother's heart has softened. The guy has asked for a reconsideration. He is trying to be contacted by the guys family and attorney, They wasn't to either speak with him or let them write him a letter. My brother doesn't know what to do. The guy has a minimum of a 33 year sentence and he is 50 years old now. My brother feels bad for making him stay in prison that long and for keeping him away from his family. He doesn't know what God wants him to do our what the right thing is to so because his choice will effect the entire family.
What are y'alls opinions on this. Normally we know what to do but this guy as crazy as he is and knowing he has a mental disorder history along with an alcohol history was sort of part of the family. We cared for him and his family. The reconsideration trial I believe is next week. It bothers me because he wanted to rob me of my wife and kids along with taking our lives and I really don't want to have to watch over my shoulder my whole life but at the same time I want to show mercy as well as my brother.

    wow, just wow.... sad story

the guys is clearly mental, i wouldn't put him back on the street, if you guys really want to show mercy, why not show to his family??? its a complicated situation, you can forgive him in your hearts and all, but nothing guarantees he is going back to the same shit....

so, bottom line, forgive him, but let the justice decide if they forgive them, dont put your hands on fire for the douche....

He threatened you and your family. This guy deserves to be in prison. He has already lived a bad life, just let him live the rest in prison where he does not danger himself and others.

Yeah, as it's been said. Fuck that. Do you really want the last moments of your life to be "Shit, why did I trust this fool?"

Didn't think so. Enjoy you life and be free from fear. Really you are doing him a favour. Your taxes pay for his meals and a roof over his head.

You dont want this guy back on the street. he may come after you and your family, which dont forget will be another child, or maybe he goes after someone else he didn't like... you'd be endangering more than just you and your family.

He needs to be in prison.

I see it like this, this man is a danger to his family, your family and most anybody he has contact with...he doesnt seem mentally stable enough to handle the outside world... Praise the Lord that you and your family are ok and that he finds God in prison and gets forgiven his sins and leave the rest alone

I was just thinking about this again. I want you to take half a second and imagine if he had gone through with his original plan, you could be without a wife and kids, or brother.
Or think of the anguish your family would be in every day of their lives if he had killed you like he had planned...

Your brother sounds like a great guy who is confusing FORGIVENESS with FORGETTING. It sounds like he is doing the right Christian thing by trying to forgive the guy. I am all for forgiveness but forgiving someone does EXCUSE them for what they did or ABSOLVE them of ACCOUNTABILITY for their actions. Forgiving is not pretending the act did not happen, or even forgetting, but the process of moving forward and loosening bitterness and resentment which your brother may have bottled up inside. The bad guy can be forgiven but still has to lie in the bed he made.

What your brother also needs to realize is that he is only a small piece of this mess. There are many others whose lives were affected and should have some say-so.

What he does need to do is make it crystal clear to the guys attorney and family that he does not want them to contact him/his family/you/your family in any way!!!!!!!!!!!PERIOD....If needed file a complaint against him with the state if they persist. Being in law enforcement for almost 15 years I have a big problem with attorneys. I know not all are bad, but for the majority that I have dealt with...I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire!!!! Most are snakes and will attempt to get their clients off at all costs instead of DEFENDING them using the facts. This guy, his attorney, and his family know that he is totally screwed (facing a minimum of 33 years) and will probably use you brothers faith to their benefit. Your brother needs a strong support system from you/your family to let him know that he can still forgive the guy and let the courts handle the punishment at the same time.

Good luck to all of you

If your brother is weak enough to help get this guy out disown him and make sure you are sharp with your weapons. Plenty of training. When the guy shows again don't hesitate, just take him out. This is the type of thing that should be a capital offense (is in many countries) instead of making tax-payers and victims have to pay for or worry over a drain on society.

Good luck to you. Here's hoping he just rots where he is or cleans up the mess on his own one night in his cell.

Like it's been said, forgive him, but don't let him out to give him another chance to hurt your family or anyone else.
