I've installed a 2 channel amp and some three way 6x9's in place of the factory woofers but I tapped into the stock wiring. So the new 6x9 speakers work when the tweeter is plugged in but not when the tweeter harness is unplugged. I'd like to bypass the tweeters without doing too much rewiring. Could I just pull the tweeter and connect the 4 tweeter side wires together so that there is still current through the stock tweeter harness that flows to the woofer wires?

My understanding is that the 6x9s are wired in parallel with the tweeters on the tweeter side of the plug, so you can't just disconnect the plug. So, you just disconnect the tweeters at the tweeter, not the connector plug. You do not need to connect the tweeter wire (in fact, that might even be a bad idea). This is just from what I've read on the forums. I haven't taken a look at the wiring myself, but will be some day soon.

I wonder why it would be a bad idea to leave the tweeter connected? I'm now thinking of adding an aftermarket tweeter if i have to deal with that stupid harness. That stock tweeter/mid range is yucky

No, I'm not saying you shouldn't leave the tweeter connected, I'm saying you shouldn't remove the tweeter and then connect the wires. Somewhere, on one of those wires is a capacitor used as a cheap crossover for the tweeter (to prevent the mid/low range signal from blowing out the tweeter). You don't want to accidentally wire that capacitor in parallel with your new speakers. If you don't want the tweeters, just clip the wires at the tweeter and tape them off.

But like I said, I haven't removed my door panels yet to verify just exactly how it is wired.

So just to confirm. Leave the harness connected, but cut the wires to the actual tweeter. Is it really that simple?

I would get the 4 pin adaptor and jumper the pins.

That could work. That way, I can easily reinstall the OE tweeter if desired.
