Attempting to replace CV Axle all instruction videos etc say to remove the lower ball joint bracket to separate the steering knuckle but my 2nd gen 2008 Tacoma 4wd doesn't have the bracket. Seems just the ball joint nut is connected. Does anyone know anything about this?? Sounding like I'm going to have to remove both ball joints

Welcome to TW. "Help" in thread titles is reserved for situations where someone is stranded and/or needs immediate help (stranded/injured etc), as opposed to assistance with technical issues.

I suspect, with a 6" lift, you aren't running stock front suspension components, including spindles. Could be the reason you aren't seeing typical components in DIY videos. I have no real knowledge of what is involved in a 6" lift. If you post some pics of the truck showing the entire front suspension and its components, someone may be able to tell you what setup you have.

    Yeah, this
You have aftermarket spindles, so they won’t be the same as factory
Just get it done however it needs to be

A zoomed out picture would be better to tell what you have. For a normal ball joint you can hit the side of the bracket with a hammer, or use a ball joint press

Guessing Fabtech lift? That one is a bit of a pain because of this (I usually suggest BDS first for this type lift partly because it retains the stock configuration)

If you strike the knuckle immediately next to the ball joint stud real hard with a hammer, it should pop free pretty easy.

Another option is to screw an old nut onto it to where the stud is almost flush with the end of the nut (maybe recessed 1mm), and then strike the nut upward with the hammer to pop it loose (don't use the nut you intend to reuse though in case it gets damaged though)
