    SPD's:

Pros - adjustable tension, positive 'click' when you clip in and out, durable cleat, easier to clip in than out
Cons - bung up with mud/dirt more-so than CrankBros., float isn't as smooth as CB's

    CrankBros:

Pros - adjustable float angle, smooth float, don't get bunged up with mud/dirt easily
Cons - cleats wear out quicker than SPD's, try not to walk on concrete/pavement too much, no positive 'click' when unclipping, sometimes a little trickier to clip in than SPD's, but clipping out in the less float setting is easy

I ride both Shimano SPD's and CrankBros Candies and Mallet's (and flats at times). Overall, SPD's are a little easier to clip into, but CrankBros feel much better while riding due to the smoother float. My vote goes for CrankBros.

I recently switched to the CB's and have been happy with them (switched from SPD's). The CB's are easier to get in and out of but I'm sure if you select either, you'll be fine.

Of course, you've probably made your choice already :)

Crankbrother pedals do not have adjustable float. They have 6 degrees of float at all times the only thing you are changing when you swap the cleats is your release angle.

    Sure.

The 6 degrees is just the unrestricted movement. The CB pedals will rotate before releasing to different angles depending on which cleat is on what foot, where the Shimano's don't have this adjustment. It's still float until my pedals release. You call it tomatoe, I call it tomato.
