Hi there! I drive a stock Tacoma TRD Off Road 2021 I’ve been doing research and reading a lot of different leveling kits and lift kits and how they play into driving style and adventure level etc. What I haven’t been able to find a clear answer is whether I can install wheel spacers (like Bora 2” hub Centric spacers) and slightly larger tires without any other mods like like lifting the suspension or trimming fenders. I also can’t seem to find clear answers if this setup (if it’s doable) will enhance the driving experience or will negatively impact the drivability and performance.

Any guidance and shared experiences would be helpful. Thanks.

You need to tell us what size tire you're looking to run and what you intend to do with the truck.....

Wheel spacers are 99% purely cosmetic and do nothing for performance generally speaking

I’m a novice. I’m still researching and learning about all this.
    I don’t know what tire size I want ☺️
What I know is: The majority of my driving will be urban, I don’t plan on taking the truck on technical trails or over rocky trails, I plan on doing some light trails (some dirt and some mud maybe) and maybe driving on a beach to go surf fishing. So I guess I’m looking for a balance of good urban driving, some improvement to off road driving, and a nice modest look (as opposed to a super high truck).

I would suggest researching tires first. Look at a good all terrain and don't go much bigger than you have now. Performance drops fast when you go bigger. Then lift if you want to...you don't need to lift at all to fit bigger tires. You can go up to 35's before you really need to change suspension components.

I installed 265/75/16 SL Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrain tires on my stock 2021 TRD off-road. Tires fit perfectly with no issues. However, fuel economy declined by 10% city and highway.

Would Falken wildpeak at3w 285/70r17 on 17/8.5/ 0/4.5” wheels, fit the TRD Off Road without any mods? Is this a functional choice that will maintain the performance and handling of the truck?

I’ve bolted some stuff to it *lists cool stuff here*
Toyota has spent lots of time, effort and money making your truck capable of handling everything you described beautifully.. just buy the A/T tire you want in the size tire you already have and drive that thing.

That’s a 33” tire. You would drop down to about 14-16mpg and gear hunt a lot more. I wouldn’t go that big unless you off-road a lot. But yes, it will fit with a good alignment.
