So right now i have 5100's in the rear w/ dakar leafs and they are way too short. I was planning on getting Icon 2.0RR but just read in someones build that even those are too short for leafs that have 3" of lift. i was wondering if anyone knew where to find the collapsed length and fully extended length of icon shocks? i just want to measure and make sure before i order them.

this is the one I'm trying to figure out collapsed/extended lengths for:

    thanks

I was hoping to order this tmrw so any feed back would be helpful.. I guess I could just try to call toytec or icon. That's probably what I'll end up doing..

ok so called toytec and had them measure out the icon 2.0 RR and the fully extended length was about 24" and I'm looking for about 27" (my regular ride height is about 23" from eyelet to eyelet). I couldn't find anything else from icon that looked like it would work so I'm looking at King shocks now. They look very promising but they have so many damn options when ordering from their site and i don't know what to choose for some of them.

contact Wheeler's Offroad, the bilstein 5125s can be custom length, I actually am having the SAME problem, on my 03, with Dakars. I will text a buddy of mine to try to get a part number

id prefer not to get billys (nothing against them). I did see the custom length thing on wheelers with the 5125's but id prefer to get some kings or one of the "good" brands because I'm not paying for them haha..

yea I agree, I want icons because thats what I have up front and they are awesome, I have a buddy that works at icon and he says that theirs are stock height. I haven't really looked into kings because as you said their site is overwhelming. let me know what you find!

yep im so glad i do so much research because i was just about to order those icons too.. I looked at fox and i think its the same as icon they only do stock/1" lift height. i just need to make sure the eyelets will be the right size. i know ORI's have custom length too but those things are like 600 per shock lol.. So seems like King it is.

Take the guess work out of it. You need to cycle your suspension wih the shocks removed. Measure the distance between the top and bottom mount shock mounts and thats your exteneded and collapsed length.

i know this. Im pretty good at playing the guessing game because I've messed with my rear suspension so damn much. i know it has a good few inches of down travel w/o my 5100's mounted and it sits at 22" ride height. the billys are 23ish fully extended and are way too short. 17" compressed and 27.5" extended sounds perfect to me.

only thing is i need this bit of info to proceed with my order o_O:

    1.25" wide bushing(1/2" bolt)
    1.5" wide bushing (1/2" bolt)
    1.25" wide bushing (5/8" bolt)
    1.5" wide bushing (5/8" bolt)

not sure how to find out the bushing/bolt size for the rear shocks?

Edit: hmm I think I might have figured this out.. Still not 100% sure tho.

You need to be sure though. When you get bigger shocks to accomodate down travel, you will lose up travel and if you dont adjust your bumpstop length to accomodate, you will run the risk of bottoming out your new shocks.

Already got bigger bump stops (timbrens). But I agree I should measure just to make sure. It just seems so close that if it needs minor adjustments I can do that when I have the shock in hand.
