I am in Florida so I am of no use but do keep us posted on this. I feel like others here that being a young man he is most likely having the time of his life right now. Good luck

Sorry, no I am not... if I still was, you couldn't see my trip report and all 15 days of it including coming home on July 28.

Now, I need to read the rest of this to see what is happening...

The BEST place to get help, online is go to www.BajaNomad.com forums... there are thousands of members and MANY of them live in Baja and have a business there, too.

Baja California is a BIG place, as long as California and Oregon together... just not as wide. So, we need specifics as to dates and locations... San Fran is what? That is not a place, just part of a place with a longer name. Let's help... come to Baja Nomad, register and provide the details and a photo.

The truth is probably he is just fine and having a good time. Cell phones do NOT work in most of the peninsula, and where there is cell coverage, you either must have a Mexican phone or have an international plan on your U.S. phone. Lot's of places have satellite Internet, so maybe he will check his email sometime? Did you talk about regular communications before he left?

Thank you to the members here who sent me a message about this... I may have never seen it here in the Northern Calif. forum.

David K, in San Diego County.

I think he was in San Francisco when he needed help with a broken strut, since his road trip was from Canada to Los Cabos. OP says his son and friend crossed into Mexico Saturday night.

Oh good, then there is no crisis... still should have his travel plans and locations. Ask him to go to Internet cafes and email you in each town (every little town has satellite Internet in Baja, now).

http://www.BajaNomad.com for any more assistance, Baja information, etc.

Thanks, it is a great place to vacation, camp and off road/ explore... BUT, let your family and friends know your schedule and try to check in via email once in awhile, if you do go by any town.

As you all said- he is fine. Just finished talking to him via facetime in a hotel in La Paz. Apparently having the time of his life - wants to quit college and run a boat tour concession. Much thanks to TW folks for the super response.

Yah, Baja can be addicting! I caught 'Baja Fever' when I was a kid... La Paz is a great town.
