Hey everyone, trying to install a remote starter, I've gotten everything wired up except I can't find the lock motor wire anywhere. All i know is its blue/red and is in a 12 pin harness in spot 10. If anyone could help that be great!

Also it's in the driver kick panel as well, I've looked through all the wires and found one blue/red wire however nothing happens when i tap it to ground so I assume its not the correct wire

You don’t want to be sending ground to a motor wire. The lock wire is Blue/white pin 6 of the gray connector

Awesome, thank you, according to the wiring diagram i was following, it said, "Touching this wire to ground (the set amount of times) can serve as a way to test the system. This wire connects to the vehicle drivers lock motor wire to detect the pulses generated by the vehicle door locks, that’s how pressing ‘lock’ on your OEM remote 3 times starts the car. Use your wiring chart to locate the “Driver Lock Motor” wire in the vehicle. Do not confuse the “Lock Motor” wire with the “lock switch” wire in your vehicle! Typically, the wire in the vehicle will be located at the drivers kick panel, or where the wires enter the vehicle from the door through the rubber boot. Testing the correct wire will show (-) ground when at rest, then when the lock button is pressed the wire will momentarily show (+) positive as the door lock is energizing, then return back to (-) ground where it will rest."

I was under the impression you needed it for locking. So yes that is the correct testing procedure. So if it’s just a sensing wire you’re hooking up to the motor wir, blue/red is the wire. It’s located in a white or black connector

You're on the right track now. The testing that the directions mention is grounding the remote start lock sensing wire to see if it starts. They are not meaning to ground the blue/red wire.

Also worth mentioning, once the engine is running, the key fob will no longer unlock the doors, so you will need to unlock the door with the key. The only work around that I know of is wire the remote start to the unlock so you push the unlock 3 times and it starts and is sitting there unlocked and running. No one can steal it but they can steal your sammiches out of the glovebox.

It's against the TW rules to have more than 1 username.

My bad, I think I made a different account on my phone a while ago since I couldn’t remember my password and needed to ask a question, I’ll delete the other one. Anyway I got it working!

Where did you find this wire? I’ve ran into the same issue?

So its in the driver side kick panel, from memory, once you take off the kick panel via unscrewing the hand screw you should be able to see a few different 12 pin connectors. You just have to look through all of them until you find a blue/red wire. There is only one. Once you find it, it should be in spot 10 of the 12 pin harness. But again that was the only blue/red wire I found in the driver side kick panel.

What year truck is this on? I'm about to install a remote system on a 2015 and the only wire they were ify about was the lock motor wire (for a relay on the remote start system) They tell me where it is kinda, but basically to test voltage at rest and when you lock the doors. So hopefully yours was a 2015 and I'm looking for a red/blue wire.

This page saved me. I just finished my remote start from MPC. I could not find my lock motor wire for my life. This is on the kick panel.
