Hey everyone! I just picked up a 2002 Tacoma xtra cab (2WD), and I'd like your opinion on how I can make this thing more aggressive looking. The truck itself is in excellent condition(98,000 miles), and runs like a champ, so I'm stoked.

Any ideas? Maybe a small lift? The previous owner pretty much kept it stock.

Put some bigger wheels on it that look sporty, swap the tails and headlights with something nice, maybe some window tint, that's all I would do.

What do you mean "aggressive"? There's the lowered 5-lug street style aggressive, or the lifted 4x4 and big tires aggressive.

IMO a lifted 5 lug looks a little odd, but I'd start with wheels and tires for sure. I always like matte black wheels, but you do you...

Maybe get a blacked out grill (or paint it). Fake (or real) hood scoop.

I figured maybe just some bigger rims and tires... might need a very small lift for that.

Wheels and wider tires is about all I'd do...maybe colour- matched bumpers if you can get them. Keep the stock parts though. JMO
    Beauty truck by the way.

I think you guys are right... I'm just going to put some nice rims and wider tires on it and that's it. The thing is in such good shape, and I'm convinced its because the previous owner didn't mess with it! One owner, all service records at the dealer, and interior is great as well.

I wouldn't bother lifting a 5 lug. Those are designed to be dropped.

    4 run, 2 don't
Color matched bumpers front and rear, and that's it.

Shit, that'd be an awesome daily driver.

Looks like a nice clean truck! My vote: tint the front windows, color match bumpers, 16"-17" wheels and drop it.

Or leave it stock, just drive it and enjoy the low maintenance and reliability.

    That looks sick!
When you say color match bumpers, does that mean white bumpers to match truck? They are chrome and black right now.

Whatever you do OP, keep the wheels and any parts you change out on it, and don't do any mods that can't be reversed with a few bolts. A truck like that has potential to become a collector, but only if it can be returned to original factory condition.

Correct, white bumpers to match. Always looks really good and makes a big difference in appearance. You could always buy some cheapo junkyard/eBay bumper and paint it instead of your original ones. That would make it easier to do what @Rock Lobster said.

Excellent suggestion! It's much easier to put your own stock parts back on instead of spending the time and money to find replacement parts that were hopefully in as good of shape as the ones you took off!

My vote? Leave it alone. People, like the original owner, are why such nice old collectibles, like your new truck, are still around. Mods, while they personalize the vehicle, only appeal to the few, generally lower the vehicles desirability to others, and lowers resale value.
Then again, it’s now your truck. Do what you want.

I would tint the windows 20%. I personally would just tint the windows and add a tool box.
