Help from a 2.5 gen owner

I recently had to have some body work done and the hood (amongst other parts) was replaced. I've noticed a squeak/clunk from the front while driving. From memory I believe there was some type of spring/bumper by the hood latch. The shop says that the hood is as stock. If there are any 2013 DCSB owners out there that would be willing to take a shot of their hood latch area and send to me it would be greatly appreciated.

Yellow circle area is where I think it would be normally found. I looked at the parts diagrams online, but can't make out what the right part number would be. If you happen to know the right part number, I'll just bypass the shop directly and fix in myself.

No there is nothing located in that hole. The bumpers are at each corner of the hood.

 

Thanks. I've got the bumpers at each corner of the hood. If you see the shiny gouge at the edge of the raised surface, it is making contact with the bottom of the latching mechanism on the top of the radiator mount. It just seems less than tight.

Any pics of your latch to share?

I had a squeak for months after cleaning my engine bay. A member here told me to grease the hood latch on the mating surfaces. Ended up being the culprit. Worth a shot if nothing else. I believe I just used regular ol' grey grease from a tube if memory serves right.

 

You are a gentleman and a scholar. It was squeaking like a banker's bung hole. Sprayed a little white lithium on the latch point and it knocked out 90% of the noise. Hit the four rubber bumper stops with same and it's quiet now when going over the torture course. If you're ever in the Conway area, I owe you. There's a local watering hole where we can sit out on the deck during spring and hear some picking (and grinning if teeth are present and accounted for), I'll bring you an Opus X (and smoke it for you if that's not your thing) and we can do some QA on the Blantan's to insure it hasn't spoiled in the bottle.

Now the next challenge is the hood. It's fluttering like a Vegas hooker's eyelids above 40 mph. I think I'll be able to take some 3M NVH to the pads where the sheet metal separated and give it shot.

It was probably me. But yes, it might help. It cured what I thought was a front suspension squeak.

 

I had the same happen to me and put some lubricant on it and it went away. Thankful it was an easy and quick fix.
